Question about Apple iPhone 3G
get my iPhone 3G to detect other bluetooth devices. Some devices detect it, but
are unable to pair with the Iphone 3G.
This iPhone 3G bluetooth problem is another one in a chain of iPhone 3G problems, i'm starting to regret i bought it.
The iphone 3g bluetooth is at present for headsets/handsfree devices only and cannot link/pair with anything else (phones/pc etc) it has been deliberately crippled to force file transfer etc to be done exclusively through itunes

To pair tooth u need to do following:
1. turn off tooth
2. turn off blue tooth function on the iphone
3. push on and hold it on the tooth until solid blue light comes up
4. turn on blue tooth on the iphone, it finds it in 2 sec, password 0000
it worked with my Samsung WEP250.
IPHONE is not perfect, but its the BEST phone ever made. have it for 2 years and enjoy every second of it

Don't worry all of the iPhone 3G problems will be solved, including the bluetooth problem, & you will be able to enjoy your iPhone 3G.
The iPhone eG bluetooth problem is quite easy to fix -
Rest car hands free
Reset iPhone 3G
Now your pairing should work.
Have fun with you iPhone 3G

I had the same problem, with a jWIN JB-TH130 and an iPhone 3g. Following the instructions didn't work. Or rather, I was not understanding that the picture in step 3 for pairing involved holding down the main button (power button, from the off state... i.e., keep holding down the power button after you turn it on) for 8 seconds, and THAT will make it blink alternating red and blue and voila! The iPhone detected it, prompted for the code, input 0000, and it was paired. Works fine.

Its kind of stupid if you have to reset your phone all the time and loose all the messages and everything else on the phone back to factory settings... I had the same problem with my iphone 3G sync ok with the bluetooth until it went out of range and didn't want to connect again.
Something apple should look into it...

Be aware that some applications might mess up your bluetooth connection especially if you have an unlocked/jailbroken device. For example, I have a jailbroken iphone 3G. I installed an application called USB Drive from Cydia which enabled me to use the iphone as an usb memory stick. The application has 3 modes: Drive+iTunes, Default and Drive Only and by default it is set in Default mode (obviously). The thing is that I only got it to work in the Drive Only mode as this was the only mode in which my PC would recognize it as a USB drive. But since I made that change I couldn't use my bluetooth headset anymore. It simply couldn't connect to it. I tried everything: turn bluetooth on and off, reboot the phone, remove the headset from the device list and try to pair with it once again, reset the settings and so on. Absolutely nothing worked. Until I remembered that everything worked fine just before I installed that USB Drive app. So I opened the app, switched back to Default mode and bam! iPhone paired with the headset and everything went back to normal...

There is a Big problem with the iphone 3g bluetooth...
when you go away from the iphone the headset lose connection with the blueooth and that's normal , but when you coming closer to the iphone the headset will not reconnect again!
until you delete the headset from the bluetooth setting and pair it again.
Ive tried it with two bluetooth headset : Blueant z9 and Soundid sm100 , with both of them i had this problem.
I called apple and they told me to open the airplane mode for a min and shut it , didn't help.
i just can't believe apple release the phone like that even when they will fix it on the next update.

Following the procedures described on Apple Support I was able to make it work: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756
Look for the text "If Internet tethering using Bluetooth does not work, follow these troubleshooting steps:" and click on it. Following these steps made it work.

To remove a paired device without reseting! With the iphone 3gs, just go under your general setting, bluetooth, choose device, then click on forget device!! I REALLY didnt want to reset the entire phone...that's crazy!

This problem can be solve by jailbroking the device and just simply download the ibluetooth from the cydia, icy or installer
OR you can search it on youtube to show you how to download it
i hope this helps

With Ford Sync on a 2010 milan, when I make a call on my iphone 3GS, as soon as it starts to ring, the volume drops so that I can hardly hear it until I manually raise the volume on the Ford Sync. Each time I make a call it resets to the lower volume. Is the iphone using a different volume setting for bluetooth? Can I reset that volume? MilanPerplexed

Re: I phone blue tooth issues i was having the same problem . The issue for me was simple . It is extremely easy for the Mac book to discover the device and link with the code… But then you cant connect it keeps cycling … frustrating!! i was like it detects my magic mouse no problem….. so it pointed to the phone , then i realized you have to go into the phone and turn on the internet tethering then bam it’s connected all good no worries ….. it will not do it on its own ….only discover and link with the code!!!!! It is also a good idea to turn off Location Services as this will free up the phone for max POWER!!!! Mac is the best ! It is so efficient it is usually human Error ! No Jail breaking required!

Iphone bluetooth problem is that it is apple (itunes)... it may only work with apple (itunes) programmes
Posted on May 31, 2011
You have to use iTunes to transfer all your contacts by plugging the iPhone into your Mac with the USB/power cable that came with the phone, then iTunes should launch and see your iPhone... If you have Windows, I believe the instructions are the same. You'll have to transfer the contacts from the Nokia phone to your Mac's Address Book first. I'm not sure what to use on Windows for that part.

I just got it to work. Follow these steps:
1) Go to Settings
2) Go to Reset
3) Select "Reset All Setting" (Make sure you save passwords. Data is safe.
Clear all previous pairings.
Once iPhone reboots, turn on Bluetooth.
Pair as usual

I phone bluetooth is only frm iphone to an other iphone......it's one of the very big drawbacks of the iphone 2g or 3g( or even 3gs ..i guess..i dont kno if dey have improved it...)

The iPhone unfortunately does not pair with just any device, it would be best to check compatibility before purchasing a new peripheral for your iPhone.
