I just installed window 7 on my computer and now my yellow machine is not recognized. i have lost the installer cd with the driver on it. where and how can i get the driver or software to run my yellow machine on windows 7

Did this problem occur after a OS upgrade? Open Device Manager, DVD/CD-ROM drives, open and uninstall the DVD/CD rom. Reboot your machine, Win 7 should apply the correct driver. If you need a driver go to your manufacturer's website. Drivers and support section.

Go to "My Computer/View System Information/Hardware/Device Manager". Now click on "DVD/CD-Rom Drives" and make sure your CD drive is listed. If it is listed and there is a yellow exclaimation point then the driver is not installed for it and you must install a driver.

If you are using windows XP, right click on "My Computer" go to "Properties" click on "Properties" it will Bring up a System Properties window. click on "Hardware" tab. in the middle you will see a tab that says "Device Manager" click on that. Look in the list to see if your Cd/DVD drive is shown. If it is and has a big yellow "?" on it or a yellow "?" with a "!" on top of the yellow "?" then the CD/DVD drive is still being recognized by the motherboard. In this case, replacing the driver will most likely do the trick. If you are running Vista, or Windows 7, access the Device Manager by right clicking on "My Computer" then go to "Properties".it will pop up a "Control Panel Home" window. The first entry is the "Device Manager" click on that to open the device manager. From there, the same thing applies to the XP instructions. If the CD/DVD is not listed in the list, try rebooting the system then repeat the process. If the CD/DVD still does not show up, there is most likely a problem with the drive or motherboard not recognizing the drive. If the latter seems to be the issue then taking it to a reputable repair facility might be your only option. If it is the yellow "?" you should be able to find the driver at HP's website http://www.hp.com/#Support once this is downloaded, double click on the file and it should start running the driver installer. Then just follow the prompts of the installer.

you need to install Uli sata drivers in order for your motherboard to recognize the harddrive and cd drive.

and put them on a cd or memory card, when the system prompts you that you have no harddrive, you can load the drivers from a memory card or cd however if you use a cd you will face other issues. then you will be able to install windows 7 ;)

I did it on my acer e500 and it runs good.
I didn't install the 64 bits version though but the 32 bits.
