I bought a coby dvd player and it will not turn on. I tried to return it, but the store would not take it back. can someone please tell me how to fix it, or were i can send it to be repaired. firstname.lastname@example.org
I have the same problem. It worked fine for a while, then I could not even turn it on. I opened the case, and the fuse looks fine. I have no clue what the problem could be. When I turn the power on I head a click sound. However, there is no indication on the LED. The bay won't open/close and it does not respond at all. Almost like a corpse.

Just bought it take it back to the store with the receipt and get a refund and buy a different brand or trade it for a new one while at the store.
I hope that this helps and I am sorry I have no further suggestions but I feel if you purchase something new it should work right and if not I take it back and get a refund or trade it for a new one as I suggested.

It sounds like the remote needs to be replaced. Below is the procedure you would follow to obtain a replacement remote from COBY.

1.A money order made out to COBY Electronics in the amount of $6.00 (FOR EACH PART ORDERED! -- TFDVD batteries cost $18.00) 2.A note with your full name, phone number, and return address. 3.A note detailing the model number of the device/unit and the part being requested. 4. If you're requesting a replacement remote please write the numbers found on the back of the remote on the note mentioned above.
We strongly suggest you either send the above requirements via certified mail OR with delivery confirmation which is available from the post office. And please hold on to your money order receipt/stub.

do you see the laser light come on when the disk spins if not it has probably lost power or failed, if so sometimes the laser head gets moved to close to the drive mechanism and the motor cant pull it out. i have found several of these that had this problem.
This is a photo of the Coby DVD 206 and the Gold area after the T in About is the part you may try to move to the left towards the word Talking and then move it back towards where mine is located now. We have exact same issue.
My husband called Coby.
They said if the red light is on & won't go green, the system is junk. Can return to the store or them.
We are off to buy a new player and it won't be a Coby!
