Question about PC Desktops
No purchase necessary....you will have to get to the web based settings of the router though and set up security settings for your network. In an open internet explorer window type 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 this will open up a window asking for username and password, use "admin" for both. This should open the settings, under the tab of wireless or wireless security we are going to apply a security feature called WEP, you will need to choose this setting in one of the dropdown menus. Once chosen we will need to choose the type and we want HEX. Now think of a 10 digit number that you can easily remember. i.e. address, combined with license plate etc. On that same page there will be a place for you to enter an SSID. This is going to be the name of your network. Go ahead and check the box for your router to broadcast your SSID so you will be able to quickly identify your network from your wireless computers. You can use a pet's name etc. Once complete make sure you save your settings and log out. Now with each of your wireless computers you will have to disconnect from your network and then try to connect to your network with the new name that you assigned it and then it will prompt you to enter in the 10 digit security key that you entered earlier. Only give the key to your computers that you want using your network.
