I am not sure whether this feedback will work for me or not but still I must say that I am totally dissatisfy with canon DSLR camera and it?s service that is available in Kolkata. 16 months ago I bought a canon EOS 1000D (SN. 730203665) camera. Two months ago I found a problem that, the images I took, a black spot was coming on the top of all the images. I went to the local canon service center in Kolkata they advised that the sensor needs to be cleaned and I handover the camera to them for cleaning. They didn?t charge me any thing because I had the warranty from canon. The most unfortunate situation was for me like when I went outside for a photo shoot and I found the details of the images ware getting blurred. I went to the service center again but no hope then I decided to sell the camera and buy a new canon EOS500D. A new story begin, I purchased the camera EOS 500D (serial 7162014618) on 14/01/2011 just three days ago and in the camera store I used flash to take a trial photo and initial checkup of the camera but when I took this camera to my home and stared shooting I discovered that there is a black spot again coming in fixed place to all my images that I shoot either in high aperture or in low light . Now I am quite sure if I go to the service centre the same problem will take place. My question how come a brand new camera has a spot in sensor even though I didn?t change a lens since the moment I took it from the shop. I had the faith with the brand name ? CANON? I never tried Nikon or any other brand now I think I should change my mind.

Believe it or not, most cameras come with "factory dust" just waiting to float onto your sensor. Cleaning it is quite easy with the right tools. Google the words..."cleaning a DSLR sensor" and you will find numerous sites that will explain the procedure with pictures and they will list places to obtain the equipment (which is not expensive and once you have it, you can clean your sensor anytime you need to).

Sounds like there is contamination in the back of the lens, near the outer edge where it won't show when the aperture is stopped down.

Minolta SLR Lens on Sony - Does it work.

As I understand it, Sony bought Minolta, lock, stock, and barrel. Theoretically the lenses should fit and may work on manual, but I'm very sure they will not totally work on sony digital cameras. I wouldn't even try to fit them as the autofocus system on the camera may be damaged.

Canon digital camera

Hey jpmodell,
Whether or not you can use your old lenses on a new DSLR body depends on how old your lenses are and what model lenses they are. Modern Canon DSLR cameras use what is called the EF mount which was introduced by Canon in 1987. Canon lenses prior to 1987 have what is called the FD mount which will not directly mount onto new digital cameras. Some companies do make an adapter to allow the user to mount an FD lens onto an EF mount camera but it would provide very limited functionality. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan
