Hi. It's really necessary to have the original remote. All so called replacment do not have the "menu" button. In Philips TV's access code is not rquired. In your case, some channels are "whiped" and cannot be recalled. If you can go into setup-menu, things can be rearranged. There are numerous web-shops where you can buy an orignal remote. I recently bought an original remote for my DVD player. This however was at an on-line shop in Belgium. Just surch for Pilips on line shops in your country. Good luck.
Philips sets use a
four digit code to control the v-chip. The override code for Philip sets is
0711, although it may say "Incorrect code" the first time to trick
you. If "Incorrect code" is displayed, simply enter 0711 again. To
use it hit the MENU key to get to the menus. Go up or down until you reach
AUTOLOCK or SMARTLOCK, depending on the model, and push the "right
arrow" key on the remote. Enter the override code, and enter it a second
time if it says it is incorrect. Once in the AUTOLOCK
or SMARTLOCK menu, go to BLOCK, and push the "right arrow" key. Go to
BLOCKING OPTIONS and press the "right arrow" key. Go to MASTER
DISABLE and press the "right arrow" key so that it says "MASTER
DISABLE ON". The v-chip is now reset.

I have a Philips universal remote. After trying half of the codes for Philips TVs, I came up with one which allowed access to the SETUP menu. It was 0621. This allowed me to run the auto channel setup, as well as fix some of the other functions. I don't know if this works with all remotes, but if you try different codes, you should get lucky. I'm sure it helps if you have a SETUP button on your remote.
