Sounds like your friend changed the PS3 to output in HD only and forgot to set it back for your SD TV.

Hi our PS3 has no sound or picture. It does have the green power light on.

What is probably happening, is your PS3 is set for the wrong type of output. If you are using an HDMI cord, try switching to the AV cables that came with your PS3, and set your TV at the appropriate input to correspond with the AV hookups, and see if the picture works then.
If you are using the AV cables, it may have been set to HDMI accidentally. You need to use an HDMI cord, and hook the PS3 up to an HDMI compatible TV or monitor, and select the HDMI input. Once you get the picture working, go to Settings>Display Settings and set the display you wish to use.

Sounds like a bad a/v cord.....If you have a friend that has a playstation 1, 2, or 3, borrow his cord and try it.

I have a HDMI problem with my PS3. I have it

Try entering Recovery Mode and choose "Restore Default Settings".

If that doesn't help, you may have an HDMI port failure - which will require returning the unit to Sony or sending it to a third-party PS3 repair shop.

Powers on but won't feed through to the tv

you either have the wrong channel

if you have a tv make sure you have it set on tv if you have an hdtv set it on hdtv.

or the AV cable is not plugged into the right colors or you dont have the VIDEO cable plugged in

also ask a friend who has a ps3 to borrow there AV cable your AV cable might not work anymore.

N64 works but the Picture has loads of static

It sounds like it's most likely a problem with the AV cord you're using to connect to the TV or the ports on the TV where you plug it in. If you can, borrow a friend's AV cable and see if it works, if not then it's either a technical problem elsewhere or it is not hooked up correctly... Also make sure the TV is set to the correct input (Video 1, Video 2, channel 3, etc.)
