Hi I want to restore my computer to original factory settings. I can only find the F2 option into the BIOS menu and there is recovery centre. Plus it didn't come with a recovery disk. Do you have any...

Restart your Sony Vaio if it is already on. If it's off, turn it on
  • Press the F12 key on your Sony Vaio keyboard. This will enter the computer into the built-in restore mode. Note that depending on the model of Sony Vaio, you may have to press either the F11 key or the ESC key to enter this restore mode. This must be done before your operating system begins to load. If you see the Windows logo appear on screen, you'll have to restart and try again.

  • Choose the option on screen that is most appropriate to your needs. You will be presented with three options: you can either create a set of recovery discs, attempt to repair your operating system's installation, or restore your operating system. Repairing your operating system will attempt to fix your computer without deleting any of your personal files. Restoring your operating system will delete everything on your hard drive and return your computer to its original factory settings.

  • Wait for the restore process to complete. Depending on the type of restore you've tried, you may have to wait as little as a few minutes and as much as an hour or more. When the process is finished, the computer will automatically restart itselff

I want to restore my sony vaio pcv-re550 to factory state condition. my sister gave me the comuter but she doesn't know where any of the disc are.

As soon as you power up your system keep tapping F8 repeatedly until another screen pops up.
You can select reinstall Operating system (ie windows) / restore factory settings etc from there, Choose option which is suitable for yourslef. By doing it this way it reinstalls the OS that is already stored on your Hard drive so no disc is required.

Hope this helps and please rate

    Acer Aspire 5920 problem

Your best play is to restore the machine to the factory settings. To do this, power up the machine and immediately press ALT+F10. From there you will enter Acer eRecovery Management which will give you the option of returning the machine to the factory settings.

    WARNING:
This will erase everything you had stored on the machine!! ie data files, pictures etc...

    Hello,

I found these instructions for you on the Sony support site.

    Solution
    sp.gif sp.gif IMPORTANT:
    • Before performing a recovery, go to the Sony® eSupport Web site at http://esupport.sony.com and check your model-specific support page. Look for software and driver updates or check for knowledge base solutions that may help you solve your computer's issue.
    • This model does not require Recovery CDs. Recovery data is included on a special partition of the hard drive.
    • Do not interrupt the power during the recovery process.
    • Before performing a recovery, disconnect any external devices not supplied with the computer such as printers, network cables, cameras, or external storage devices, like hard drives or flash drives.
    • Customers who purchased the Symantec® Norton Internet Security® 2007 software from the Sony Style® store with their computer must create a Norton Account to save their product key prior to a system recovery or the software cannot be reinstalled.

    NOTES:

    1. Click the Start button, then click Help and Support . NOTE: If the Help and Support link is not available on the Start menu, re-enable the link in the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window.
    2. In the Windows Help and Support window, click Backup & Recovery .
    3. Under Backup & Recovery , under VAIO Recovery Center , click Launch VAIO Recovery Center .
    4. In the VAIO Recovery Center window, under Choose a program , click to select the desired option:

      NOTES:
      • It is strongly recommended that recovery discs be created to help restore files if the operating system will not start. Recovery discs are bootable and can be used to perform a recovery on a properly functioning hard drive.
      • The Windows Backup and Restore option opens the Backup and Restore Center provided with the Microsoft® Windows Vista™ operating system. This provides the ability to save information from the hard drive, such as personal data files, and restore previously backed up data.
      • Computer problems related to hardware can be diagnosed using the VAIO Hardware Diagnostics option.
      • One or more drivers or factory-installed applications may be reinstalled with the Reinstall Programs or Drivers option.
      • The entire (C:) drive can be restored to its original, factory-installed condition by selecting Restore C: Drive .
      • Choosing Restore Complete System will restore the entire (C:) drive, while removing or restoring the Recovery Drive partition. Modifying the size of the hard drive partitions is also an option with this type of recovery. This option requires you to insert Recovery DVDs created using the Create Recovery Discs option.
      • To remove all data from the hard drive, including the operating system, all programs and personal data, choose the Wipe and Erase Data option. This option is provided for the convenience of advanced users who want to install a different operating system, and who want to ensure all data has been removed from the hard drive first. All other users are strongly urged to avoid selecting this option.

Please update me on the same.
    Regards
    Sammy
