Question about Onkyo TX-NR801 Receiver
I have an onkyo801 receiver, its showing that surround is not available bec of headphone being plug in.theres no headphone being plug but still it wont allow me to use surroound sound.how ill i trouble shoo it?
First, check inside the headphone socket for something inserted. A common find here in Australia is a mudwasp nest also. They love to built inside this sort of hole. If that isn't it, spray some contact cleaner lubricant spray into the socket. I use crc 2-26. Then insert a jack plug in and out a few times to see if you can clear the problem. The socket has switching inside it that tells the amp the headphones are plugged in. These contacts may be dirty of have dry solder joints. Check the soldering about the socket also, resolder anyway if you have an iron handy. If all this fails, you have a faulty socket. See how you go and get back to me for the next steps if you cant get it sorted. Socket replacement is probably on the cards.
