Hi imaw4672

First, check inside the headphone socket for something inserted. A common find here in Australia is a mudwasp nest also. They love to built inside this sort of hole. If that isn't it, spray some contact cleaner lubricant spray into the socket. I use crc 2-26. Then insert a jack plug in and out a few times to see if you can clear the problem. The socket has switching inside it that tells the amp the headphones are plugged in. These contacts may be dirty of have dry solder joints. Check the soldering about the socket also, resolder anyway if you have an iron handy. If all this fails, you have a faulty socket. See how you go and get back to me for the next steps if you cant get it sorted. Socket replacement is probably on the cards.

Use a headphone to RCA/phono cable and plug it in to a spare audio input on the amp. Set the MP3 volume to about 50%.

Pioneer VSX-456 headphone jack problem

No the headphone jack doesn't disable the speakers. There are two switches in the lower middle of the receiver that are labeled speaker A and B. Pushing one of these should disconnect the speakers from the receiver.

I have a Denon AVR-3200 Surround Receiver. When I plug in the headphones, sound comes through them, but the regular speakers don't turn off. How can I make them turn off? Thank you.

There has to be a switch or a function to turn the speakers off. On my receiver, you can choose speakers A, speakers B or you can choose speakers off.

I have a HT Z220 Samsung home cinema and a new tv (LG M2352) I've connected it via the satelite box or cable receiver so have surround sound but is there a way I can attach my laptop to the surround...

Get a mp3 player adapter, it will have a headphone jack on one end and the red and white cables on the other end. Plug into the headphone jack on your computer, and plug the red and white jacks into the Aux input on the receiver. I didn't look at the link, but most receivers have a Aux input on them. That should solve your problem.

Hello, I have a Sony STR-D85 surround sound system. I need to connect my phone to the system so that my phone's music plays through my surround sound speakers. The front of the console has a headphone...

Headphone jack is an output not input jack. Your going to need a cord to go from your headphone jack(output) of your phone to audio input on your receiver. The cord has a mini stereo plug to the phone and RCA plugs of left and right to your receiver auxiliary input. Good luck..

I need to connect a surround sytem to my tv but cannot find an audio out on it

Depending on the TV you have and the surround sound system you can use the following:
An optical out cable.
Headphone jack to headphone jack (a cable with a 2.5mm headphone jack on both ends) you then plug this into the headphone jack in the TV and the other end into the audio in jack in your surround sound system.
You can also use a standard scart lead to plug into your TV and surround sound system.

Where is the plug for headphones?

Thoat model does not have headphone plugin. But if you have a stereo or surround sound receiver with head phone plugin on it, then you can plug your stereo to it via RCA.

Can i hook a surround sound to my zune

It is usually as simple as getting a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack to RCA adapter, like this one:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3359117 (this will work just fine, even though it says 'ipod')

Or they have "Zune Ready" adapter kits, like this one:
http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3004031

Once you have the cable, you stick the headphone plug (3.5 mm stereo mini-phono) into the headphone jack on your Zune, then you insert the red and white RCA jacks into an open input on your surround receiver... most have an auxilliary input jack set on the front of the unit. All you need to do at this point is select the "aux input" for the source on the surround receiver, start your Zune, and make sure the volume on the Zune is somewhere in the 50 - 75% range, and you should be good to go.
