Question about Printers & Copiers

1 Answer

I just purchased a new Pixma MP530 printer. Installed the print head, ink, alligned print head, loaded the software, but am unable to get my Mac to recognize the printer. I have a Mac OS 10.5 and have used Pixma ip4200 for two years before it died. I cannot get the new 530 to respond and cannot figure out how to get my Mac to recognize the new 530. When I try to print all I get is the ip4200 which is no longer online. I even downloaded Print driver ver. 4.8.3 but that did no good. I'm frustrated, how can I get this new printer to respond????????????

Do you have another computer to plug it into to see if its working.

Sometimes the USB cable do fail. That's why I gave you that suggestion.

Otherwise you might have to take into the shop to see why it isn't connecting.

I would appreciate it if you would change your rating.

If you go to the below link -

Canon MP530 manual

and look at pages 44 - 46 it shows you how to change the ink cartridges. Just bear in mind the page takes a while to load as its a 4mb pdf so it will just stay black for a while until it downloads.

Thx, if this solution helps please rate :)

My Canon Prixma 530 has the "Memory in Use" light on and will not print. There is nothing in the print cache (no jobs pending). How do I get the printer to print (all other functions still work).

Remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and connect the Printer to be detected and installed. Check printer properties to see the ink levels.
Use head cleaning before a test is taken . It is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the command , can be an issue with ink drying , can also be poor ink cartridge contacts

MP530 all in one printer - bought Staples magenta & blue inks but printer won't print those colors but did print older Canon inks not needing replacing; bought new Canon magenta & blue inks but...

What you can do is take the ink cartridges out of the print head and remove the printhead. Hold the print head over a trash can and take some 409 cleaner and spray the little pads inside the print head til you start noticing the colors dripping into the trash can. You will them want to dry off the print head as much as possible and litely wipe off the outside and the bottom of the print head with a paper towel. Then reseat the printhead back into the printer and the inks. You will then want to run a nozzle check from your printer software or from the printer properties. If the inks still are not showing up run one or two cleanings. If the issue still persists then you might have to replace the printhead. If this is the case you can look up part number: QY6-0059-000 online to replace the print head.

Mp530 edible ink

You need to clean the print head manually. Remove tanks from print head, then remove print head. Find a small tray you can put hot water in to the depth of a quarter inch / 6 mm. Soak bottom of print head. Do not touch or get wet the electrical contacts. Next while holding print head in left hand carefully pour a small amount of hot water in the each ink tank well in the print head. Now dab the bottom of the print head where the jets are with a paper towel. Keep dabbing till you get equal size spots of all the colours. Best to wear plastic gloves doing this. Best to use battery water (de-ionized) but if you don't get scale in your electric jug your tap water is fine.

Installed all new ink cartridges and now poor printing results

Dear louis,
You have done right thing by cleaning the print head. If the print head still clogged after repeatedly cleaning, It seems that the print head need to be replace with new one. Make it sure by printing nozzle check pattern. Is it good or not?.
