the screen turns on to 'sandisk' then after two or three seconds becomes white and repeats endlessly! how can I get it off this stuck situation. It only started after the end of the year. Does this have anything to do with the change to 2009?

First, try a soft reset. Do this by pressing the center button and the up volume button simultaneously and try turning it on. If that does not work for you, you will need to get a micro sd card (it can be a dummy) and insert it into the slot on the side of the mp3 player. If you do not have one, you can use one of the round edges of a paper clip (be careful) to get it to come on. When you put either in, it should come on automatically, but if not, just press the power button. This should work.
If it does not work, you may need to get a firmware update from this web site: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376
Remember that you need to back up all of your information before doing the update. Hope this helps.

Sansa express won't turn on

Normal 0 Press and hold the Volume Up (+) and Select buttons at the same time for about 20 seconds
Make sure that the player is charged up.

Try to power reset the device by pressing and holding the center and volume up button at the same time, while connecting it to the PC.

If power reset fails, charge the device for at least two and a half hours. The computer should not be in sleep or hibernation state while charging.

You may need to update firmware.

Sansa Clip won't turn off right? push up power button and hold it for 10 to 20 second, your device will turn off now.
After that, you should update your new firmware from sandisk forum, you should check Sansa Clip or Sansa Clip+ from the following web,

Good luck

hard reset your device. To do a hard reset hold down the power button for 30 seconds. The screen will go white then all black. When you release "sansa" will appear on screen... it will then take 30-45 seconds to reboot.

Micro sd probelem

Well, the most memory from a micro sd card the Sansa mp3 player can take is 2gb, because anything more will freeze up the player because it was not designed to read that much memory. So if you have a 1gb or a 2gb memory card, then you can use them.
