Replace Fuser appeared on the LCD, and as it was over 100,000 copies and the fuser roller did appear rather past its use by date, we replaced the fuser unit. Its now working great. How does one reset and get rid of the replace fuser error message? please
Im sure its a code in the Maintenance menu, but Im not sure just which one.
For the MFC 8860, I turned off the printer. I help down menu. I turned on the computer. It entered Maintenance mode. I typed in 88 (Parts Replacement.) I scrolled to the fuser, clicked ok. Then, I turned off the printer. When I turned the printer on, it said that I needed to replace my laser. I then turned the printer off, help down menu, turned the printer on, typed in 88 at the maintenance menu (parts replacement), scrolled down to laser, and hit ok. I then turned the printer on and off, and poof, now it works. I find it quite unscrupulous that I had a replace PF Kit1, replace Fuser, and replace laser messages all within one hour...

Try to press the reset button on your printer if did not works just try to download the reseter of your printer in HP Laserjet 1020 at the HP website. Because your printer have a lifespan printing; example if your printer have a 100,000 copies to be print so you have aloud to print not more than 100,000 copies. That's why need to reset your printer using the reseter program by HP.
If drum is a genuine Brother, then open the rear door and look at the fuser rollers, if you see toner or partial images on the rollers you need a new fuser, if the fuser is clean, look at the drum surface and if you see parts of last print then the drum is bad. In reports, print the user options list it will give the total print count. The fuser is worn out around 80 to 100,000 prints.
you don't mention whether the document you are copying also appears on the paper. If it does you could have 1 of 2 problems- The drum cleaning system could be at fault or- the fuser roller has picked up some **** easy test...... run copies and when the 1st copy edge appears switch OFF. This is a crash stop. Now examine the sheets in there. Is the stripe on the copy before the fuser (Heat) roller? If yes you could have a drum cleaning problem, usually fixed by changing the drum module. If no and the stripe appears after the heat roll, the problem is with the fuser system, dirty rolls etc. There are a number of other problems with stripes, but you have to start somewhere! If the document does NOT appear on the copy, forget all above, could be scan or ROS problem
That would be either a bad heat roll or pressure roll.
In the area where the copy exits, the hot fuser area, eithet the heat roller, TOP roll or pressure roller, Bottom red roller are worn.
Easiest thing would be to replace the fuser.
