IC chip burned

Hi I put 2 AA batteries on my vivicam and plug a DC adaptor ,it start to swich on and off and then stop , it doesn't work anymore, I open it and saw a chip burned U8, it is 3x3 mm an I don't know what is it! maybe a regulator?
