Gas Double oven (Built in)

We just bought a new home a few months ago and want to replace the small 24 inch gas oven to a 27 inch. We are having a tough time finding a suitable gas double oven. It seems like all we are finding are electic double ovens. Is it possible to convert a electic oven to a gas oven? Oh yea here's the best part we do not have a 220 connection. Do you have any suggestions that will not break the bank?

We have an old Roper gas double oven, width is 24 inches and length is 50.5 inches. Inside width is 19 inches. The upper oven is broil and bake, while the bottom is bake only. Are there any gas double ovens that have bake capabilities in both the upper and lower cavities?

It is definately not possible to change a gas to an electric. There are very few options for double gas ovens as electric is far superior. IF you have to go with gas , check out the local Habitat for Humanity store. You should be able to buy a used gas oven. It probably won't have the self clean feature. You would be better off trying e bay or a local scratch and dent outlet for a nice electric convection oven. It will need a seperate 220 volt circuit probably 40 amps. This isn't as expensive as you would think. Use the installer from the dealer you purchase the oven from. They are usually a lot cheaper than a union electricial worker. The 4 sizes available for built in ovens are the old standard of 24" the newer standard of 27" and the most common and useful 30" This is the current standard but you will also still be able to get 27" There is also a custom standard of 36" which would be for the very high end lines. These are all width measurements. The height will vary with the model. Most cabinets are made to accept various heights by removing one or more drawers underneath.

Model ww2460B double oven. need thermostat 71001138. can I get it anywhere?

Good luck with that!!! I had the same problem and scoured the internet for a solution. If you can find a used or rebuilt part you may be in luck. The thermostat on the left is a 6 pole one for the upper oven while the one on the right is a 4 pole for the lower oven 71001126. I doubt you can substitute the one for the other and give up the convection and self cleaning functions. Let us know if you find a solution or buy a new stove. Sears has a few 24 inch double ovens left, as the world is moving to 27 and 30 inch ovens.

Hi,
Its old tech2332 again. I know its a dumb question but did you disconnect the gas inlet from the regulator and see if their is gas flow into the safety valve. With a new ignotor with proper amp draw from it into new gas safety valve their is no reason what so ever that oven shouls not be heating. That the only possibility that thier is go gas to valve

Hello John,
Having replaced the ignitor and the gas valve having continuity the problem has be the gas safety valve bimetal is stuck. The only thing you check is amprage draw on ignitor it should be between 3.2-3.6 (as label on gas valve states) with a new ignitor and again continuty on gas valve its the gas valve its stuck and wont open.

Good luck,
Gene

Last year, my 8 year old Whirlpool oven door would not stay closed all the way. I ordered new hinges, replaced them and it was great for 11 months. Still under warranty, I replaced them a second time......

Are you replacing the hinge guides as well? The hinge is usually only one half of the problem. When you remove the door, look into where the upper long arm of the hinge resided. You will see a little runner wheel. Touch it with a thin screw driver and see if the wheel feels loose. I'll bet at least one of them is!
