Question about SanDisk Sansa Clip MP3 Player

HELP ME!!! I've got a 1GB sansa clip. I was loading some songs on to my Mp3.When it was done I unplugged it. Then it said refreshing database, and loaded an eighth of the way then froze.I waited for hours and hasn't changed. Can you help me?

If it freezes all you have to do is reset it...your music will still be on there, but just hold down the power button for 15 seconds and it will reset and work like normal.

I had the same problem,all I did is just wait over night and then it was back to normal.

Won't finish refreshing the database

Stucked at Refresh database


When the Sansa reads "refreshing database," what it is doing is going through all the songs you've loaded on to it, pulling out the "tag" information (Artist, Album, Song Title, Genre) so it can add this information to its own database which it uses to display the songs to you in its menus.

If it gets stuck during this process, usually it's because of a corrupt song file, or a song file in a format it doesn't understand.

Note that the e280 is only able to play MP3 and WMA audio formats. If you've loaded a different type of audio file onto your Sansa, you'll need to remove them.

If the songs you've recently loaded have all been MP3 and/or WMA, you may have loaded a corrupted file onto your Sansa. Try removing the songs you recently added, and see if the problem goes away.

Stuck on fresh database


Some songs or files with extension device can't read, so it takes so long/infinity to refresh. Plug the device to pc, format it.

"Refresh Database" never ends!


If you try to load too many songs onto the player initially, it may take up to an hour to get past Refresh database. Unfortunately, if you shut the player off while it is refreshing, it will more than likely ruin your player. Run the Sansa Recovery Tool or Update the Firmware on your Player as a workaround. Make sure the hold/lock switch isn't activated, just as a safeguard.

(e260R) Refresh Database eternal loop


Turn it on into recovery mode (Hold + Record Button + Power)
Connect to computer (You should detect a 16MB drive)
Make an empty text file inside the 16MB Drive and rename it to "sansa.fmt"
Unplug the Sansa. You should see now a "Formatting..." on the Sansa's screen.
Sansa fixed!

Sansa e200 shows refresh database fail


try putting it in MSC mode and formating it and then putting back on MTP mode. Hope that works

Cant get songs onto my Sansa e280 player =[


"Refresh database" is a normal message that you will get everytime you unplug the Sansa from the computer - don't worry about that aspect.

If the songs that you have transferred have DRM encryption on them, they may not play right (or at all) on the Sansa.

If you have Windows Media Player 11, I would get the firmware update from the Sansa website AND format the Sansa inside Windows Media Player:

Erases Everything: Connect your Sansa player to the computer and open Windows Media Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "Sansa 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select "Format." - this should erase everything and get your player functioning normally.

Blank Screen After Database tries to refresh


If you tried everything you could then Format the player. It will erase everything and will Very much fix anything wrong with the player. To do That go to start>my computer>Mp3's Drive. Probably a Letter like (F:) or (G:) which ever the mp3's drive is. Then Right Click on the Drive and Click Format. it will ask if you want to format, as it will erase everything. Click yes and perform a "quick format" when done. safely disconnect from the computer and restart. then load the songs. It should work then. Hoppe this worlks. :]
