Question about Cell Phones

AT&T (HTC) Tilt phone. (sometimes) While I am listening to an mp3 using windows media, the voice speed dial will activate and begin to dial the last number in my call history. I am absolutely NOT activating it by any keystroke or button press. I am listening with a headset, without speaking, and the phone is either sitting on the table next to me, or in a case on my belt. AT&T tech support claims that they have never heard of this, yet this is my third Tilt and this time it did not happen for over a month. (previous times it happened within 2 weeks). I have made no attempts to program the voicedial nor activate it prior to this occurring. I would like to delete this application, but I don't know how. Thank you!!

More info--this is on the AT&T Tilt.(name displays funny in my positng)

I realized that the the voice speed dial seems to be "native" to the windows mobile, and in trying to delete it, I think I messed up my internet explorer.

I also determined that since it is always calling the last number in my call history, I can at least avoid accidentally making calls by deleting call history as soon as I disconnect so that at least when it activates, it cannot call anyone. It is really annoying!

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give me.

It doesn't seem to happen from any other applications besides when I am listening to windows media player with my headset on.

thanks for the reply, but I don't know where to reset to factory defaults. Could you please elaborate? I have really been struggling with this inconvenient anomaly. I think it has something to do with windows media player, and maybe to do with my headset...? and I can't seem to uninstall it...

    thanks!

I still can't get the hang of where I am supposed to respond. My request for help has been split into two different threads, when it is still the same one, where I requested premium assistance. So since my comment landed in the wrong one (as did your reply to me, I think), I am reposting here.

    Thank you for elaborating.
After I asked for more help, I googled to find more information about a hard reset and learned that this will completely delete everything I have on added to the phone.
I will try this solution, but I must say that I am surprised by your omission of a warning that I will lose all of my data unless it is on my sim card.
When I ask for help, and I would think this to be true of others seeking help, I would hope that you would "assume" that I might not know this. You should NEVER advise anyone, even a so-called fellow EXPERT, which I am not, to do something that will cause a LOSS OF DATA, without a proper warning of this and to tell them how to back it up (in this case I know how, but not everyone does). That's why I came here for help.

Please, I hope, you will accept my feedback and that I say all this, not with intent to insult you or your technical expertise, but with the hope of someone else avoiding a situation where they make their problem worse instead of better because of taking advice and not knowing the risks.

this is not a generic problem and I paid to get a solution, which I have not had any help so I am really disappointed.

It is either a windows problem or maybe a headset/windows problem. the problem of the voice calling that activates and dials the last call in my call history ONLY happens if I have windows media launched and I don't think it has happened when there was no headset attached but I can't be absolutely sure. Deleting call history is a crappy solution since it is inconvenient and my listening is still interrupted by the failed attempt to call out.

Can't I please get someone to help me with this on my AT&T Tilt...PLEASE! other than that, I love the phone!

You can first back up all of your data to your computer , if you can connect the phone to your computer and that way back up all the data then after that do the master reset on your phone so it will be back to its default settings...

Hope that helps.....

in order for me to pin point the problem and give you the best solution, can you please describe in detail, how you have your computer and your phone set up? is the phone itself routed through the computer via the phone cable port in the back of the tower? and does the option you have set interfere with a call. does it normally interupt any functions your trying to complete on nthe computer ? do you have a broadband modem/dsl or wireless. please answer these and i will do my best to answer your questions

How to activate voice dial phone feature

Touchscreen phones simplify the wireless world, especially when combined with voice activation. Although making calls using voice commands was an option before touchscreens became available, the method used to set up this feature is different than it is for non-touchscreen units. It can take time to master the set of procedures that will get the feature working.
Step 1
Create a voice tag. Touch "Contacts" on the today screen. This opens the list of contacts on your phone. From here, do one of three things: you can hold your finger on the desired contact and then tap the "Add Voice Tag," you can select the desired contact, tap on "Menu" and then "Add Voice Tag," or you can tap the desired contact to open their personal screen and then hit "Menu" followed by "Add Voice Tag."
Step 2
Record the voice tag on your phone. Touch the phone number to which you wish to add a voice tag then touch the "Record" button. Record your voice tag for that contact. An icon will be displayed to the right of the number when the voice tag is complete. You can listen to your voice tag by touching the "Play" button on the screen or you can delete it to record a new one.
Step 3
Make a voice tag for a program. Tap the "Start" button on the phone. Go to "Settings" and then the "Personal" tab followed by "Voice Speed Dial." Choose the program for the voice tag and record the voice tag in the same manner as you did for the contact. To open the program with the voice tag, tap "Start," "Programs" and then "Voice Speed Dial."
Step 4
Launch a program or make a call. Make a call by tapping "Start" followed by "Programs" and then "Voice Speed Dial." You will hear a beep. Say the voice tag you recorded for the person you wish to call. You can open a program via the same procedure (by speaking the voice tag created for the program).
Step 5
Check the voice tags you created. Tap on "Start," "Settings," "Personal" tab and then "Voice Speed Dial." A voice tag tab appears and displays a list of your voice tags.

How do I turn the voice mail alert icon on to appear on the screen?

with all the new updates it doesn't appear at the top of the screen now as an independent icon, it shows as a missed call & a voice mail in notifications, you can acces it direct from there or when u go into the phone section if you flick left to right past speed dial there is a devoted section for voice mails, that shows each 1 individually & who left it, just click on the 1 you want to play, listen & delete or keep, you no longer have to dial the voice mail.

How do i retreive my voice mail messages

hold the #1 down until it dials your voice mail for you, then listen to messages. push 7 to erase one & push 9 to save one after you listen to them. Phone does not come with voice mail set up already, so if this is a new phone for you, you will have to dial 1 & hold button down until it rings & it will walk you through setting it up

Hello.

Remove your SD card and see if it is still acting strangely. If it is, then you need to reset your unit.

Menu / SD and Phone Storage / Factory data reset.

To set up voice mail, perform the following steps: 1. To open the phone pad, press the green Send mda_send_key.gif key. 2. Tap and hold the 1 key. NOTE: A tutorial will begin. 3. Follow the tutorial to set up voice mail. The tutorial will guide you in setting up a password and recording your greeting and name. NOTE: The default password is the last four digits of your mobile number. Your password is required when accessing voice mail from a landline phone or when you are roaming.

How can I check my boyfriend's TMOBILE voicemail from my phone

Step 1

Dial your phone number from the phone you are using to check your voice mail. Let the phone ring until the voice mail message begins.
.
Step 2

Press the "*" key or the "#" key while the message is playing. One of these two keys is usually the key that activates access to your messages. This will work for most answering machines and voice mail services, although some may use a different key code .

Step 3

Enter your password or passcode. For most systems, this will be a four-digit number that is keyed in and will sometimes be followed by the "#" key.

Step 4

Listen to your messages. Usually, unheard messages are played back first, followed by any saved messages on the system. Systems vary as to whether the oldest or newest unheard messages first.

HTC Hero voice dialer does not recognize my

The Hero's voice dialer is a piece of ****. I would not use it at all. It defeats the purpose of voice dialing if you actually have to look at the phone to confirm who you want to dial.

I would see if there is another app that can do voice dialing that is better. I cannot give you any advice on that, since I don't use voice dialing.

Good luck.

Motokrzr k1m adding voice commands for voice dialing

You should be able to add a voice tag while editing the contact. You may also be able to simply activate voice dialing and press the voice dial button and say the name of the person and it will automatically dial for you. Try doing that.
