Brother MFC7820N I purchased this machine 6 months ago but seldom used. The counter shows only 276 pages in all both printing and copying. I just noticed a vertical line approximately 1/2 inch wide on the right side when I made a copy. I made about a dozen copies and all of them showing the vertical line about 1/2 inch wide. The problem started yesterday. There is no vertical line when you print something. Printing part is fine. How do you correct the problem? I would appreciate your help.

I assumed you are using a digital copier/printer, in digital machine there were 2 kinds of diagnosing a problem, and you are right with your observation Copying and Printing, and each have two separate troubleshooting.

If you say that in printing is fine, then the problem is with the scanning part which is in your Optical Unit, here's some pointers

1- Open the optical glass on the top, with screws

2- Observed the optical unit with 3 reflective glass, it could be dirty
3- the middle of the optical system is called the CCD which converts the image from the reflective mirrors, see if you can find dust and dirt.
4- Check the lamp for any sign of dirt this could cause also some problems.

these are the only areas you need to check, nothing else, and this would surely solve this problem

Brother 9970cdw toner

The Brother printers have a counter which will shut the printer down when the preset number of copies has been reached. You can reset the counter and it should print again. I did this 4 months ago. It bought me a little time, but my printer has begun to print a solid line down the left side of each page. I have cleaned everything that I can access to rule out smudged glass, etc. Perhaps it is just best to replace the drum or buy a new printer(much to Brother's delight and design).

Will the Brother 2070n printer handle 4500 copies a month

Brother's specs page for the printer says its recommended monthly volume is 250 to 2000 pages, but it also lists "maximum monthly duty cycle" as 10,000 pages. Both of these numbers are pretty meaningless in themselves. It's not like the printer has a counter/timer built in and stops you from printing as many sheets as you want per month. They just give you a ballpark estimate of how well the manufacturer thinks the printer can handle use. So, yes, the printer can do 4500 copies a month, but you'll be using toner faster and pushing the fuser and paper feed parts harder than they were meant to go for this model. A model intended for high-volume use will have heavier-duty parts, but will cost more. This page has some good posts explaining the numbers in more detail.

Brother 2040 yellow toner light on & won't print. Toner just replaced 8 weeks ago. Printer purchased 6 months ago.

You have a one year warranty with Brother if you need repair. You might shake the toner, or put a small electrical tape over the little round windows on the toner cart. to use the rest of the toner, and press the go button 3 times to print the report that tells you how many prints you've made, you could just be out of toner again...

My Brother MFC-8460N is ghosting when printing or copying.

I would contact brother directly they can guide you thru some of their codes to put in the printer and it can tell them whats going on with it. If they ask how old it is just say you purchased it 6 months ago or if it is newer just let them know.the warranty period is one year and they can replace it for you.
