i want to know how i could change an ip address on the sb5100
Your internet service provider only able to change your external ip address. The only way to change it own by using proxy sites or ip hide software's. Online proxy sites are simple and free of cost . But they worked for some periods only. So you can always check your ip is hide or not at Ip-Details.com

The IP address is issued by your ISP, your modem should be set to automatically detect it.
If you want to run a network in your house, you'll need to connect a router to the modem. You'll then be able to set you "inside" IP address to something like 192.168.x.x but your "outside" address is controlled by your ISP.
You can view the Modem's settings (including the IP address) by putting its address into your browser. Check with your ISP for additional instructions on this.
Remember that IP Addresses are not arbitrary numbers, they are controlled by your ISP and the domain registrars.
