Your internet service provider only able to change your external ip address. The only way to change it own by using proxy sites or ip hide software's. Online proxy sites are simple and free of cost . But they worked for some periods only. So you can always check your ip is hide or not at

The IP address is issued by your ISP, your modem should be set to automatically detect it.

If you want to run a network in your house, you'll need to connect a router to the modem. You'll then be able to set you "inside" IP address to something like 192.168.x.x but your "outside" address is controlled by your ISP.

You can view the Modem's settings (including the IP address) by putting its address into your browser. Check with your ISP for additional instructions on this.

Remember that IP Addresses are not arbitrary numbers, they are controlled by your ISP and the domain registrars.

What is thje ip address for the speedstream 5100 dsl modem ,i need to make changes to the settings does not work

You actually were fairly close on your answer to what is actually needed.
I use
Almost 100% of the time, this is the access address for the router that a computer is hooked up to.

Now, you will need to know the username and password, and that I can't help you with as I am not the one that set it up.
However, is it is still on the factory settings, and the username and password haven't been changed from the factory setting, then I can tell you what to type into for those spaces.

The factory settings are:for username : admin
:for password :
leave the password space blank.
Then, you can go and configure it any way that you wish.
Just remember to write the new ones down, that way if you need to do it again, you won't have to hunt for ways to acces the router again.
Also, here is a link for the manual for your router.
It is in pdf form, so you can either view it online, or you can download it and view it while offline.

I hope this helps you out, I know dealing with routers and modems can be a frustrating adventure.

Good luck to you, and have a good day!

Ip address

You have 2 IPs:

One for your cable modem, and the other for your PC.
When you unplug your modem, your PC IP stays the same, but not on your modem (refer to your ISP for this). Now if you want to change your IP on your PC, to to the TCP/IP settings for your network interface and set a manual one.

Motorola SB5101

ya u should have a router instead of a modem because modem provide only one ip address>and there is no DHCP server in the switch or hub>so buy one router which has 4 ether net port and connect it directly to the modem and connect ur two pc's behind the router then both will get a seperate ip address from the router both will go online
the connection is
modem-->ether net cable to the inter net port on the router-->and two ether net cable from both pc's to the 1 and 2 ether net jack on the router reboot all the devices>and modem+router+pc's then it will work>rate me solved if its helps thx
