Hi

Does the 'ink blot' appear on any pictures you are taking or just on the Samsung ES55 LCD screen?

If it just appears on the LCD screen it's probably been damaged when it was sat on, and the only option would be to replace the LCD screen by contacting a Samsung service agent in your region.

If the 'ink-blot' image is appearing on the pictures you are taking then check the lens is clean - be careful not to extert to much pressure on the lens when it is retracted.

if the lens seems clean, as a last suggestion change memory card, or totally reformat the card that is in the camera - if the card has become corrupt the images may not be displaying correctly.

I hope one of these few suggestions sorts your problem.

Regards

David

What extended lens do I need to purchase to take action shots and far away pictures of sporting events.... for a Canon EOS Rebel T3 (canon ds126291)

The 55-250 has an image stabilizer which is a big help in just about anyone's book when shooting hand held. However the 70-200 f4 L without IS is a better lens but may not be long enough some of the time but it can be used with a 1.4 Teleconverter. Budget may dictate which is the better fit for you but whenever possible go for the best lens you can afford in the range you want covered.

E18 appears on the camera and the lens won't close

Lens errors are fairly common. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended ...

Here's some things that you can do to try to correct it. They only seem to work for less than 50% of the lens errors, but if the camera is out of warranty, they're worth a try:

Cannot Take Pictures Anymore...

Hey BLOBO123,
I would have the camera looked at by an authorized service technician. You could bring it to a Geek Squad® precinct in a Best Buy™ store and they can send it out for service. The flap that holds the batteries in could possible be purchased from the manufacturer and is probably pretty easy to replace, but the lens is usually much harder and expensive to repair. I hope this helps!

Sincerely,
Allan

Hope for repair?

Yes, it is possibly repairable, depending on damage to it. Or you can find many FE-210 cameras on ebay with broken LCD screens but good lenses. Lens is fairly easy to replace for someone mechanically inclined and fairly gentle with components.

Broken

Dear schmex,
It sounds like you have a broken LCD screen this shouldn't effect the image quality, but it might get worse over time and it will probably make it more difficult to compose the picture.

Is your LCD turned off (for power savings) under preferences? That is the only thing I can think of besides a hardware malfunction.

Scratched LCD Screen

Not really. You're pretty much screwed ;[ You'll have to bite the bullet and get a replacement screen, or scavange ebay for a dead camera with a good screen. Good luck
