The upper fan is mounted to a board inside the refrigerator near the back. To access it, you have to remove all of the shelves completely. Once you do that, you should be able to see the screws that hold the backing in place. Remove all of those, and pull the board out. The fan is mounted directly to the board.

When you replace the fan, I suggest you use rubber washers or grommets when you mount the new fan to the board. That will dampen the vibrations that otherwise are amplified by the board itself.

The fans in my cooler stopped working. how can I fix, or replace them ? I have an DCW283BLS Model

There are 3 fans in this unit. One high up in the back panel for defrost (which should seldom run), and two inside the box with the LED's that divide the compartment into upper and lower areas. All are interchangeable. Replacement parts are available through Sears Parts Direct.
If you intend to do the repairs yourself, make sure the cooler is unplugged when working on it. To gain access to the two fans in the divider box, remove the wine racks to give you more room, and just remove the four screws holding the top of the divider box on and lift it off. One of the fans is directly behind the PC board and the other is inside the 8x10 foam box to the rear of it. Be careful with this foam box, it is delicate. To gain access to the fan inside, use a thin bladed knife or razor blade to delicately separate the top from the sides.
Before replacing fans, try tracing the leads from the fans to the PC board and swapping the plugs for the fans on the PC board and plugging the cooler back in to see if any of the fans are working. Make sure you restore the plugs to their original positions. If all three fans are not working, the problem may be the PC board or the thermocouples.

My Danby wine cooler fan is making a horrendous noise - it sounds like it's trying to start up and then it gives up. I hav tried tightening the housing screws but this works for a couple of minutes and...

Where is the noise coming from? Check the fan at the back of the upper compartment. They seem to be defective and die after about 3 years (just outside of warranty... how convenient). I'm dealing with the same issue now. (As search on the internet indicates that we're not alone!) When its making that noise, try pressing the back plate around the little fan and see if it changes the noise.

Noisy when running

condenser fan blades are cover with lint or the fan motor may be going out. Clean fan blade first before doing anything else. If noise stops after cleaning the fan blades; hooray! If not you might have to replace the fan motor itself. Test and re-check before taking other step(s)

Need to replace the fan in the upper compartment. Do I access it from inside or from the back? If from the back, do i just pry the back off? Then how is it resealed?

you must try from insyde, all my model's have acces from inside. you dont have a seal, remove carrefuly to not bent somethig and it will be ok. I presume that fan is an tangetial fan (that kind of fan have all my wine cooler's) you will need a screwdriver phillips and maybe a wrench.

Danby DWC513BLS does not cool. Fan is on, but compressor does not turn on to lower temperature even when temperature is turned down. Where does one get parts for this online

Before you worry about where to get parts, you need to know what is wrong and what parts you will need. When a compressor does not run but the fan motor does, then either the compessor is bad (in which case you need refrigeration expertise) or the starter components have failed ( in which case you can replace. The two most common failed parts are the start relay or the overload (both attached to the compressor. Goodluck, Macgivor

Fan doesn't work on oster wine cellar

First question, do you have power to the unit and the cooling fan is not working? If this is the problem then sounds like one of the two fuses in back panel has burnt out.

Noisy Wine Fridge

The problem is likely with one of the two fans. A new fan is available from Danby (1-800-263-2629). My noisy fan is the condensor fan located at the bottom rear of the device. After removing the cooler from under the cabinet, the source of the noise was obvious. You will need to tell them whether it is the upper fan or lower fan. Leave the cooler upright for a few hours before you plug it in so that you do not damage the condenser. Price for the fan from Danby is $20.15 including shipping. Koolspace 600 Problem

You'll need to replace the fan. The original fan bearings wear our after a couple of years. It's pretty simple to drill out the rivets and replace the fan. I suggest you replace all four with ball-bearing fan units.
