Blue screen Freeze!

Hi:
Having issues with my laptop. When I boot up the machine it acts as if it's trying to fire up but then maintains a 'Blank light blue screen' for a few seconds then turns to Black. The system seems to be powered up but will do nothing- despite my depressing random keys. I tried taking the battery out and following start-up procedure and had no success. I had the maximum RAM memory installed months ago and have had no issues until recently. Any Ideas would be appreciated..

Best,
Mark

the screen just shows a constant blue screen and is blank (no messages). Then eventually goes black. Power lights are green. OS Problem? Is that serious?

I do not have the original install disc. I do have the original Toshiba boot disk. I am getting no interation with the screen so I am unsure if I can access safe mode.

Also I am fairly certain that the battery is no longer good. No matter how long I let it charge it cannot function without the power adapter, which is why I have made an effort to resolve the problem with battery in + adapter & battery out running on adapter. I suspected a power issue originally but I don't think that is the case.

My computer screen turns blue and restarts window vista

Hi jjlishus,

I see you mentioned that you are having issues with you computer going into a blue screen then it restarts.

You can try to boot into safe mode to see if Windows Vista will Load without having the bluescreen and if it will not shut down or restart, from Safe Mode, try and do a system restore to a data where the problem has not happened yet.

From there-on see if the issue will still happen or no

Getting into Safemode:
restart PC keep on tapping F8 on your Keyboard this will prompt you options, Look for Safemode then press enter this should bring up the safemode screen.

If during the loading of safemode and still happens are any error show up or it goes to a blue screen, you can try going into safemode with command prompt.
to get to safemode in command prompt just do the same as ging into safemode and select safemode in command prompt.

once in the command prompt
Type CHKDSK , then press enter it should check the system for 5 mins or so depending on your PC/Laptops speed.

if still the issue is the same reformatting or restoring your windows back to defaults may fix the issue.

I hope that this will help,

Hi yancart,

I see that you are having issue booting into windows on your machine and that you are getting black screen and a blinking cursor.

The issue you are experiencing can be a Hard Drive issue not being detected on the machine or possible something else is wrong with the system to be able findo ut we try doind some steps to check the machine.

>First turn the Machine OFF.

>Turn the Machine ON again then Keep on tapping F12 on your system to boot into the Boot Menu, or if it shows on the screen Press F11 Boot Menu then you should press F11 if your system uses F11 but in regular machine F12 is the Boot Menu.

>Once you have the Boot Menu Screen it should give you options from your Hard Drive to the DVD drive on your machine.

> Select you Hard Drive it should be the first on the list highlighted in Blue then press Enter on it to boot into your Hard Drive.

>Check if this will boot into your Hard Drive if it does not then, possible your Hard Drive is nto detected.

>If you can try to reseat your Hard Drvie from the machine just to see if it went loose, then try restarting the system again and see if it will boot into windows.

>If still the system will still not boot into windows then try setting the BIOS to defaults then restart the machine agian if still the issue is the same then most probably your Hard drive may need replacing.

Hi lewis haywar,

Try to replace the LCD inverter in your laptop. Most common issues on LCD are due to failing LCD inverter. It fails more often than LCD cable or LCD backlight does.

Please let me know if this solution helped to resolve your issue.

Have dell inspirion1525. Screen is black. By holding down fn key and start key i get flashing lock with 9 and blue lock wih an A and blue lock with a down arrow. What do these mean?

Well the Flashing "lock with 9" is Num Lock, the "blue lock with an A" is Caps Lock, and the "blue lock with a down arrow" is Scroll Lock. Hope that answers that question.

Now for the screen being blank usually means there is an issue with either your LCD display or an issue with the laptops video card. Plug in an external monitor and boot up the laptop if you still get a blank screen then there is an issue with the laptop's video card. If you can see your screen on the external monitor then there is an issue with the connection of the LCD displayon your laptop. You can try ifxing it your sleve by opening up the laptop and making sure the connection is firm or you can take it somewhere to get it fixed.

Please rate if this helps

Best thing to do would be to unseat and reaseat the memory one stick at a time in each slot one at a time.

Try turning on the laptop after each stick reseat. If it turns on consistently then you know its one of the stick acting up. You can trying cleaning it off with a rag and glass cleaner. If it still acts up then you know the motherboard is the issue.

If you can get the laptop to turn on properly. I would suggest backing up your important files and reinstalling windows with the proper drivers so that way your getting a clean start.

Try booting in safe mode and try system restore, by clicking on start>All prog>accessiories>system tools>system restore. and restore the system to an earlier time when it was working fine.

Dell 1501 inspiron laptop blank screen

Hi,

Have you installed any application/program prior to the blue screen? Most blue screen causes your system not to boot to your operating system anymore. It is possible that your hard drive is crashed due to a virus infections or spywares. Incompatibility and corrupted system registry may affect your system to have blue screen as well.

You may try the following steps below.

1. Restart your computer. After you pressed the power button to restart. Keep on tapping F8 key on the keyboard on and off.

2. Boot advanced option will show up on the screen. You may boot your computer to the following option.

a. Last known good configuration
b. Safe mode with Networking.

If Safe mode w/networking works, restore your computer to an earlier using the system restore features.

Keep me posted.

Regards,

jeff
