When watching my Hitachi 43FDX01B TV in HD, the screen will periodically go black. The sound remains on. The "outage" lasts a few seconds, and then the image comes back. This does not happen on channels that are not broadcast in HD. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Sounds like you're blessed to have a tv like that!
Some sets have settings that will cut down the sound during a commercial. Haveyou looked at your owner's manual? This tv may have setting to cut out the picture also when commercials come on.
From a technical view point generally commercials have stronger signals than regular programming. This may be overloading your set.
If this is the case, then you need to have it checked by good technician. A poorly operating power supply (not regulating properly) could possibly cause a problem like this. Also automatic gain control circuits could be not working properly.
