I havent been able to use the inbuilt mic of my acer aspire 4736z .i have not also been able to locate the mic in my computer and my operating systemis windows 7 ultimate 64 bit version and please help me on this

You can reinstall the sound drivers from the Acer recovery management, to do so:
Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Restore> Restore Application & Drivers> Contents> Select Realtek and install it

OR

Got to http://gd.panam.acer.com/home/
Select the computer model
Select Operating System installed on your computer
Click Drivers
Select Audio (Realtek) and download it.
Once downloaded, install it on your computer.

i believe it is a little hole located near the touchpad but may vary depending on the model.

there is a problem with the operating systems, this needs to be reinstall to fix your computer

It will be good to test the microphone in the sound recorder to see if the driversa re supporting , if not reinstall the drivers or choose to set to a earlier restore point.
If the mic is working good it must be seen if the Skype and messenger has some conflicts therby disabling the mic.
So take chance and uninstall the messenger to try if the fault clears.If not uninstall the skype and check with the messenger.
If the mic is not working at all it can be a hardware issue , a fault of the mic.

in control panel >> sound setting >> check wether mic boost is enabled or not if enabled then uncheck and disable the mic boost

Can you not just disable the built-in speakers in control panel while you're chatting on the mic?
