to set a microphone you do not need to get to the speech folder..That folder is for other things ... just insert the mic..and go to the control panel ..and open the sound manager ..In there select record ..and after that select the mic . click on set default if you have only one sound card ..and not using any digital cables..and than configure...from the list select headphones or desktop mic...and go with the wizard ..It should show the signal being received and next when the progress line react on noises.. usually the mic should work right the way if it is plugged in the pink in for mic on a desktop and for laptop ..just open the speaker configuration and select headphone if it does not detect the mic..(this enables teh jack plugs for some laptops.. if you have a windows xp ..just double click on the volume icon on the bar ..and volume manager will start ..In the list look for the mic..raze volume and un-mute ..If the mic is not in the list ..click on options ..and properties..(top left ) ..and tick the mic case .This will display it and enable it ..

Dear sheetaldevbr, Try to connect you video set (cam, speaker,Mic set) to another computer, to find out that probably the problem is in your Laptop PC. Or try to reconfigure your microphone by setting them up on Control panel. Follow these steps: Start>ControlPanel>Sound,Speech and Audio Device and rearrange your Mic Device driver. Or If you run the complete Office (at least 2003) try to run the speech recognition on office and run the training and you can also reconfigure your mic in Micrososft Office software. GoodLuck!
