So the dvi side of the lcd screen would be faulty then. Is the screen still under warranty? its generally year or more in these, I have 3 years in my Asus displays.

Check your warranty if you still have warranty that should cover the repair or replacement.

1. It could be limitation of your video card. Older cards would not support high resolution for LCD monitors.
2. Be sure to use DVI(digital) output from your video card. You will not get a good resolution with VGA(analog)
3. When installing driver for a monitor sometimes you will get a chose to install analog(VGA) or digital(DVI) driver. Choose the correct driver.

Good luck!

Did you check your video card settings to see if its enabled,

To do thsi you need a monitor so you can actually see what you are doing

1.) right click on the desktop and you should see you graphics card in the select menu. Click on your card. Browse the settings to see its digital enabled or something to that effect, or the monitor type (differecnt cards have different settings)
or
Right click the desktop and choose properties.

That should work actuall that can be the only problem, the monitor is fine its just the display settings thats not. Your friend's computer has the correct settings but yours and the 3 others does not.

You can also

Look at the refresh rate, hardware accelleration and Resolution any of these can also affect the the display

  • Rishi Roshan Ali Jul 15, 2008

Lower your resolution and your refresh rate as well as the hardare accelleration to as lowest it it would go.. and find out what graphics card your friend is using and please specify what card u got.

That can be a problem with your video card, So if you have a spare video card try it on that monitor.

Hope that helps...........

See the white port is for digital and the blue is analog.

Here's some tricks I would try...
1. Verify the monitor's power cord is plugged firmly into the wall outlet and the back of the monitor.
2. Verify the monitor cable is firmly connected to the computer and the monitor.
3. Verify that you have turned the monitor power switch on.
4. If the power light on the monitor is not on, test the wall outlet (plug in a light or something you know works).
5. If the power light on the monitor is not on, try a different power cord.
6. If the power light is on and yellow or orange or flashing, but nothing displays, or the display is incorrect, borrow a monitor from a friend. If that works, your monitor probably needs replaced.
7. Also, you could try your display on a friend's computer. If it doesn't work, your monitor probably needs replaced. If it works properly on your friends computer, the problem may be with your computers video output port, motherboard video chip (or video card, if you have one), or drivers.

Good luck

ViewSonic N1930w-2M turning on in gray in stead of color and will not link to computer

Sounds like like the viewsonic has seen it's better days or the Video Card in the computer is bad. To isolate the problem try connecting another monitor to the computer. Borrow a monitor from a neighbor, friend, relative or co-worker and connect it to the computer. If the Borrowed monitor displays correctly, then your original ViewSonic is bad. If the Borrowed monitor does the same as your original ViewSonic, then the Video Card in the computer is bad.

My monitor works for a while and then black screen appear, but blue light is on. The brand is viewsonic.

If you are able to take the monitor to another working computer test it there ti see if this continues, if it does not and the monitor works find you may be looking at a video card matter. If it does glitch then you are looking at a monitor replacement. If your going black and the computer shuts completely off it may be getting hot time to do a good dusting at the CPU and maybe some new Heat Sync Paste. John

Your "friend' probably put a BIOS password on your computer. Find and disconnect or remove your BIOS battery on the mother board. You may be able to slip a business card under the contact on the top effectively removing the power from the BIOS. Let it stay disconnected for 5 minutes. Reinstall and reboot.

If this doesn't fix it, you will probably have to get professional help at your computer dealer or repair shop.

Lesson learned: Don't lend your computer or your spouse to your friend.

Hi, sorry to hear you are having problems. 1. Start up your desktop as normal but as soon as it starts keep pressing the 'F8' key. 2. You will have a black background with white writing on and lots of options. 3. Use the up and down arrow keys and select last known good configuration, then press the enter key to select it. philswift_4.jpg
Your computer should start up. If you have a blank screen, do you hear the fans whirring and see lights on the front? If so then your computer works but is not sending s signal out to the monitor. Check all cables to make sure they are securely connected. If you still have no image. Swap your monitor for a friends one that you know works. This will test if it is your monitor that has failed. If you see an image on your friends you will need a new monitor or new monitor cable. If you do not see an image on your friends monitor and your PC has lights and fan whirring then you need to get a new graphics card. If you have no lights and no fan whirring it is outside the scope of this and we need some more information as it could be 1. Failed power supply 2. Failed memory 3. Blown motherboard 4. Failed processor
Please report back with answers to 1. Do you hear fans whirring? 2. Do you see a power light/led light up? (in example pic it is green) 3. Do you see the HDD (Hard Disk Drive) LED/light flash at all? philswift_5.jpg

Many thanks for your information

connect the monitor with another desktop. If if works then problem is with your ram/graphics card or motherboard with inbuilt graphics. If the monitor functions the same way as before have a look at the pins on the connector. Bend/dirty pins can play havoc. If they are ok take the monitor to service centre.

this has nothing to do with monitor because its says no signal, meaning its working!!!
