Question about Nikon CoolScan V ED Film Scanner
1. when I first started using the Nikon CoolScan V the thumbnail drawer used to be there - now it does not appear & I have tried all the things I know & asked others with more experience with the machine & so far no answers.
2. Another problem is that while the scanning of other items is in progress you cannot alter the picture by rotating the image or even save it
PLEASE REPLY TO: - firstname.lastname@example.org & email@example.com I lost the thumbnail drawer too. Once I lost it on my desktop (Windows Vista), I switched to my laptop (Windows XP). I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the software but it does not resolve.
The drivers depend om the hardware to actually show up or to work. If the drivers (software) foesnt find the hardware it will not show up. This could possibly mean that there is a problem with the hardware. but lets leave the hardware thing as a last resort
First off the simple thing (it was accidently deleted or move to the unuesd folder)
1.) check the desktop for a folder labeled unused, see if its in there
2.) click start // all programs / the name of the folder that you installed the program too / and see if its there..
If that doesnt clear it up lets check you computer communication with the device I will describe this as per windows XP
1.) click Start / right click my computer and click properties
2.) click hardware then device manager
In the list that appers there should be a folder labeled imaging device click the + to open it up and verify that its there
If it doesnt show up in there or there is no imaging devices folder then your hardware isnt installed or its damaged
Right click anywahere and choose "SCAN FOR HARDWARE CHANGES" if it shows up install the drivers and your in luck, if not then HARDWARE
If YOU HAVE THE IMAGING FOLDER WITH THE SCANNER SHOWING UP IN IT
1.) click start then mycomputer
2.) scroll to the bottom your scanner should be there, double click on it to verify its working
If its working
FOLLOW THESE STEPS TO PLACE THE ICON ON YOUR DESKTOP
1.) click startb then mycomputer , local disc C, Program files
2.) look for a folder containing the name of the device or the company
3.) browe this folder until you find the program you want and right click it then select send to desktop
