Question about Danby 22 in. DDW396 Free-standing Dishwasher

Broken fitting The plastic curved piece that attaches the hose to the white fitting on the back of the dishwasher broke, and I need a replacement.  I have been to Home Depot and they don't have anything to fit it, and I was told to go back to the manufacturer for a replacement piece but have looked online and can't find anything that would allow me to order the part.  Help!??

You don't have to change that piece, just tie the hose (drain hose ) to something that is equal height, this prevents siphoning.

How to fit Inlet hose and Water discharge hoses online manual not clear enough

the hose connections should be 1/2 : NTP thread ( normal 1/2 tap and garden hose fittings ) the inlet hose comes from a pressure source so it will be a screw on fitting at each end
Y fittings are available from a hardware shop if you want to run hot water as well as cold but some machines heat their own water to near boiling for better hygiene and drying of dishes
next the same screw on fitting ( as on a tap)) should fit on the pump outlet
as the pump discharge is low pressure the fitting can have a hose tail ( plain piece with a barb at the end that the hose pushes over)with the hose pushed on and held in place with a hose clamp
the same for the other end but the tail should be part of the sink drain ( all fittings can be from a hardware shop in the garden hose section) S bend so push it on there , again with a hose clamp
check the size as the pump fitting may be 3/4 not 1/2 inch as drain hoses can be larger , but the principle of fitting is the same

Samsung DMR78 dishwasher makes a grinding noise at the beginning of the wash cycle as well as the rinse cycle. Also comes up with the code 9E on occasion.

Check the brackets that hold the top rack for any broken plastic brackets. My dishwasher was making the same noise and after noticing the broken plastic pieces I pulled out the dishwasher put it on its side removed a white panel on the bottom that is attached with two screws, removed the drain line and inside there were two plastic tabs from the broken bracket. Once those were removed the grinding noise stopped. The bracket holding the drain hose can be removed with a pair of pliers.

I'm having a problem with the top drawer of model DD-6031. It is stuck halfway open probably could force it closed, but chose not to. It feels as if it off the track or rollers. Help!!

You are wise not to have forced it. It will just break something and cause you more cost and drama.

Firstly make sure that the retaining tabs on either side of the drawer at the lower front are engaged properly. They sometimes don't positively engage and you will feel the difference when the drawer is pushed. Press the tabs in and undo and re-engage them a couple of times to check. When you undo both tabs just move the drawer forward slightly and then push it back to re-engage the retaining tabs. The drawer should run smoothly without resistance when they are engaged correctly. You will know when they engage properly as there will be a very positive 'click' as they snap back in. Check how the lower drawer moves to compare see the difference as to how the two are running in and out.

If the drawer is returning smoothly but feels like it's striking resistance before it's fully home, it's likely that the hoses are kinking/fouling behind the drawer and/or that the linkage support is broken.

If you have this older style white plastic linkage rods that hold the hoses, I would strongly recommend replacing it. It's the white plastic rod that has clamps attached to it with all the power, inlet and drainage hoses running through it.

You can get the 'retro fit linkage support' from an authorised F&P parts supplier. This is a retro fit that has specifically been designed to overcome the shortfalls of the original plastic linkage support. This consists of a metal rod and mounting plate with takes over the function of the plastic drainage support.

There are detailed instructions with the retro fit support which explains how to fit it. It was well under $100 when I bought one and worth the investment.

Good luck and remember always turn the power off before attempting any repairs

Loud grinding noise without dishes in Samsung Model # DB5710DT

mine was doing the same thing. Check to see if any of the plastic pieces have broken off the brackets that hold the top rack. I flipped mine over took off a white panel on the bottom that had two screws and inside the drain hose there were two pieces of plastic from the broken basket. the drain hose is held on by a clamp that you can remove with a pair of pliers.

Good Luck!!!

Kitchenaid Hinge tensioner

It is aall exposed on the outside of the unit. Discconecct the water, remove the two set screws attaching the unit to the counter, slide it out and you will see the damage left or right. The white plastci piece slips off over the metal clip and you re-attach the string, apply pressure to the spring and slip the platci piece back over the metal and you are done. You will spend more time removing the unit than repairing it.

Top drawer doesn't 'seat' itself -- give error tone wont start

You need to take out the tube to see the 2 latches at the end of the 2 rails still has spring attached. The 2 latches keep the tunb in the place when it closed. They are replaceable
The white plastic guide is broken because of the the brittle plastic and it is OK.
