My GE side by side fridge leaks water from the bottom only when I connet the water filter inside the fridge. The leak stops when I remove the water filter. What could be causing this?

  • if the water is not constantly pouring out like a broken water line behind the fridge then...
  • the water is coming from the freezer when is defrosts. the drain line is in the back wall of the freezer and may be clogged up with ice.
  •  clean out the freezer and pour some hot water in the very back of the freezer, this will hopefully unclog the drain.
  •  if not, then you have to take the back wall out of the freezer to get directly to the drain line. there should just be a couple screws holding it; it is just an aluminum or plastic panel.

I'm replacing the water line on a GE Profile refrigerator. I have put the new tube into the bottom fitting. Now I am trying to figure out how to put it into the top fitting that feeds into the water filter, but can't figure how to dismantle it from the inside to get to it. Can you help me with this? Please....thanks in advance.

Water leaks at bottom of fridge

The same thing happened to me then I noticed ice had formed at the bottom of our fridge. It was covering a drain hole so water was leaking out the front of fridge instead of going to the drain pan or wherever the hole goes. After I chipped out the ice and cleared the hole with warm water the leak stopped. I also fixed another leak coming from bottom of fridge caused by a loose brass connection on water line going to the door.

Water leaking from whirlpool gold refrigerator

When refrigerators leak water it usally is a sign that the defrost drain found inside the rear of freezer and behind the rear panel of freezer has become clogged with ice or gunk. Sometimes the pan below refrigerator has a crack and allows water to leak onto floor. I have a side by side Kenmore refrigerator model #363-9562510. Water leaks from the bottom right corner of the freezer door from a small round cut out hole. This is the door that has the ice and water...

couple of things to check if you have a dispenser on this model there is a hose that goes up into the bottom of the freezer door you need to remove bottom kick plate and take a look at this...also if no water from that hose and its actually coming from the door you could have a ruptured line in the door itself.... next make sure the water is not actually coming from the freezer compartment as the drain in the freezer could be clooged and leaking over on defrost mode and out door...
hope this helps good luck...

Ice Maker leaks water inside the freezer

I see you said you looked and the water valve is off but the only that I know of this happening is a defective water control valve. Like a dripping faucet that when off slowly drips until the ice forms and then one the ice maker dumps ice and tries to refill the water goes in every direction. Unplug water valve to confirm what I am saying, Tell me if it continues to leak. Sea Breeze

Water leaking from the bottom

Self-defrosting refrigerators dispose of the water generated during the defrost cycle, usually via a tube or channel that directs the water to a pan at the bottom of the refrigerator. From the pan, the water normally evaporates.

If the tube or channel is clogged or obstructed, the water backs up and leaks into the inside of the refrigerator compartment. Then the water builds up at the bottom, inside of the refrigerator. When the water has built up for a time it may spill out of the front of the door opening. To fix this problem, clear the drain tube or channel and allow the defrost water to flow down to the drain pan.

Freezer leaking water

The drain is plugged just below the coils in the back of the freezer. My fridge had the same problem and I found the hose (which can be accessed from the rear bottom) was plugged with mold. Also, i noticed the hose was connected to the water holding pan and was too close to the bottom and easy to plug. I removed it from the connector and just let it dangle in the holding pan.
