Question about LG LDF6810 Built-in Dishwasher

2 Answers

Dishwasher I am getting a run around with getting my LG dishwasher fixed properly. We had a tech more than once come in and look at our dishwasher. It has not been fixed and never dried the dishes properly. It is now leaking and going to a "del" level when we attempt to wash the dishes. It is also leaking on our fairly new tiled floor and under our new kitchen cabinet. Your tech stated the dishwasher was not installed properly. The installation dept , Francine stated it is not their problem since they only warranty the installation for one year. I am waiting for the last 15 minutes with your tech. dept., Vanessa to get clearance from a supervisor whether I will be charged for this service or not. I can't believe I would be charged since Best Buy made the error in installation and I paid for an extended warantee for my product. I need you to fix my dishwasher properly ASAP since we have not been able to use our dishwasher in two to three weeks. Paula Pagan, 631-979-4469

We have had the same prolem with our LG dishwasher in the less than year and a half that we have had it. It broke once and leaked the second time. Even with warranty expired, Best Buy has taken no responsibility to followup with the installation issue that seems to have brought on the other problems. When we inquired about having one of their repair people come out which we would pay for, they wanted to charge us 100.00 just to check the problem without deducting it from the cost of repair. We are now trying to troubleshoot to see if we can fix it and we have been without the use of our dishwasher for about a month.

I have the same problem. The dishwasher worked fine for the 1st year then the dishes started getting dirty. The tech came out and replaced a pump and it worked fine again. Six months later the dishes are dirty again and the door really dirty. Tech came out replaced a float censor and had problems getting the unit back in the cabinet. It is still not fixed and he is claiming it's an installation problem, which if it were an installation problem then it would not have worked for the first year. This is very frustrating and I am stuck with an overpriced non working dishwasher.

Not sure what you mean by a "del" level, but as far a drying issues:

LG chose to use a very energy efficient drying method which relies on the residual heat of the dishes to help dry them rather than many manufacturers who use a heating element. For this reason, plastic items (which do not retain heat as well as china, glass, or metal) will not dry as well. Also, with LG dishwashers it is especially important to use a rinse aid, such as Jet Dry, to reduce water surface tension, allowing water to sheet off the dishes. Of course with any dishwasher, it is also important to have soft water, but make sure to use a small amount of dishwasher detergent. Too much detergent can cause excessive suds, which may contribute to water leakage.

Loose handle

Open the door and loosen the self threading screws around the sides of the inner door panel. Once this has been achieved lift the inner panel up so that you can access the door handle screws. Tighten these fasteners and reassemble the door panel.

1 Scrape and rinse dishes before putting them in your appliance. Small food particles, grease, sauces and bones clog up the system, keeping the dishwasher from properly rinsing your dishes. You don't need to prewash the dishes but be sure to rinse off any solids.
2 Use a toothbrush to clean around the dishwasher door.
Clean around the seal and hinges of the dishwasher. This area often is forgotten and holds a good deal of bacteria and food splash. A tooth- or bottlebrush is the best way to get into the crevices.
3 Clean chunks of food out of the screen and drain at the bottom of your dishwasher, recommended The Family Handyman. If the drain is plugged, the dirty water can't be washed away and ends up back on your dishes. Nut, bean and seafood shells, bits of plastic and small dishes can lodge against the drain, keeping it from doing its job.
4 Unclog the holes in the sprayer arms. If the holes are blocked by food or soap, water cannot freely spray inside the dishwasher to thoroughly clean the dishes. Leftover food on the dishes can make the dishwasher smell.
5 Keep space around your dishes. Overloading a dishwasher keeps it from running efficiently, allowing gunk to build up around the drain and the spray arms.
6 Run your dishwasher as hot as possible to break down food and grease. The recommended temperature is 120 F.
7 Run the dishwasher with vinegar added to neutralize odor. Empty the dishwasher, place a dishwasher-safe cup filled with white vinegar on the top rack, and run a cycle at the hottest setting. If you prefer, use unsweetened lemonade powder or baking soda in place of vinegar.

We had a power surge and the dishwasher (lg 7811) starts but cuts off when the water should start with error mssage "ei". Is there some kind of reset or did the computer get fried?

Mine was doing this also and based on solution by guru MNTECH, I removed the front door skin (screws around inside of closing edge) and found the 5 bad wires broken or compromised. I spliced them back using crimp connectors from ACE HW and wrapped the bundle with e-tape and I'm off and running. So easy of fix but would have been a real bummer trying to find the problem w/o MNTECH's trick. LG Chat agent was no help.

Plastic lid melted to heater at the bottom of dishwasher, literally wraped around,

Next time run the water at the sink until it is hot, then start the dishwasher; once it covers the heater open washer and see if that softened it enough to release it. If not, run dishwasher to end of cycle with drying option on and half way through drying cycle (or so) it should lift right off.

Mildew/moldy seal

This moldy look could also be due to alot of 40 degree or less washing temperatures where the bacteria cannot be killed therefore a once a month maintenance wash at max temp would help solve this.

Constant Failure

Problem #1 solution.  Make sure that you are using a rinse aid.  All dishwashers require a rinse aid to assist in drying the dishes.
Problem #2 and #3 suggestion.  Possible that the door is either warped or not closing properly.  Make sure that the cabinetry is not obstructing the door from closing properly.  Another possibility is if the side mounting holes are used to screw the top half of the dishwasher to the cabinetry, they may be screwed so tightly that they are pulling the frame of the dishwasher away from the door causing the steam to leak out the sides.  Recommend loosening the screws slightly to allow the dishwasher frame to return to it's normal position.  Hopefully, the frame hasn't deformed.
Problem #4 solution.  You may need to replace the sump assembly as the wash motor may have a problem pump enough pressure to wash the dishes properly. The sump assembly comes as one with the drain pump included in it.

Dishwasher doesn't spray

It sounds like your dishwasher is doing everything normal EXCEPT washing. The unit fills properly, the timer advances properly, the unit drains and goes through a rinse cycle, plus the water is heating. I would check your main wash pump for obstructions that may be clogging it, or if it is not running at all, you need to check the interconnecting wiring and/or something in the wash pump circuit that would prevent it from running. There should be a wiring diagram/tech sheet located behind the lower kick panel under the door. I hope this helps some. Good luck and let me know what you find.
