I have a Kenmore Gas range. The major stove top no longer gets really hot and we are having trouble boiling large pots of water. It used to be able to boil a large pot of water easily. I would like to know how to fix it.

This could be a problem with the gas regulator, gas supply pressure or the burners need to be cleaned. Here are the cleaning instructions for the burners. If you are still having problems with the burners I would recommend having the gas pressure & regulator checked.

Can you put a Greek coffee maker on a glass top new coker

There are essentially two types of Coffee Maker, one where the water is heated by an immersion element (where the water is heated by electricity), and a Boiling Water Coffee maker, where you heat the pot on a stove top element either by gas or electric heat.

(If you hve one of the electric immersion ones, don't do what a famous comedy showed and place the coffee pot on the HOT SURFACE of the cooker.

While the first pot of coffee might get warm, the idea is to heat the water from the inside, then have the coffee brewed by the machine after.

Is there a MODEL or NAME on the BOTTOM of the maker?

Google or search for these things first and get back to this board if that does not help.

If I understand your question (sort of) , are you asking if a Metal pot can be placed on the top of an INDUCTION type cooktop, where the special rings Induce a current of electricity into the bottom of the fry-pan or Stock-type pot to boil water or fry items in oils.

I do not know if there is any special method used in Greece to make coffee. Please provide details, if you were not having a 'glass' cooktop.

After some research, a 'Greek' coffee maker or 'Bricki', is a stainless steel or copper pot used to boil the water and grinds together without any extra filtering.

So, the Original Poster needs to determine what the pot is made from (The type of metal), and the other part is what type of cooker element is underneath the 'glass' part of the stove.

The Test is if you turn on the element, and watch it, does it glow red underneath or not?

If it glows red, then the heating elements are embedded into the glass and the stove functions similar to a regular electric range.

If the 'glass' portion is black and does not glow red without a pot on the top of it, then it is an INDUCTION element, and the Inductor NEEDS a metal pot on top to induce a magnetic field to make the bottom of the pot warm up.

Based on the Size of the Pots shown in pictures, it may be too small to function in your particular cooker. A model of the cooker would help. The label is usually on the door frame to the oven or a logo or name near the contol knobs.

How do you open an alessi pepper mill to refill it?

You will need:- Large cooking pot- Grinder- Tongs- Hot pads or oven mitts (mitts are recommended)- CautionPut the grinder into a large cooking pot. Fill the pot with water until the grinder is completely submerged. Make sure that the plastic parts of the grinder do not touch the bottom or sides of the pot. On the stove-top bring the water in the pot to a boil. Once the water is boiling turn off the heat. The grinder is now very hot and full of hot water so be careful not to burn yourself. Using tongs remove the grinder from the water and hold it upside down to drain most of the trapped water back into the pot. Now turn the grinder upright again to trap any remaining hot water. Using your hot pads or oven mitts grasp the glass part of the grinder in one hand and the plastic part with the other hand and pry them apart. Let both parts of the grinder dry completely then refill it and snap the plastic top back on. These make great grinders for other spices as well such as coriander. Enjoy!

Need directions for Comet stove top rice cooker

Fill the bottom to the line with water. Put two cups of rice in the top and two cups of water. Put on stove top on high until lower water is boiling, turn to medium heat. For white rice check after about 20 minutes, if water is assorbed and rice is tender, fluff with a fork...eat. If it needs a few more minutes of cooking, no problem.
Brown rice will take about 45 minutes.
I have used my stove top cooker for at least 35 years...ordered it with box top and some money from Comet Rice.

Will burner get too hot

Hello Pinewood7. The issue here is concern from what you have heard. Don't worry! All you are doing is boiling water. The system will allow constant heat for what you are doing. Use this as a test. Put your largest pot on the top full of water and set on high. Attach your thermometer to the side and see what happens. I know several people who use these tops for canning with excellent results. My sister in law has had yours for years and not an issue with jams. Hope this helps with your concerns.

Tappan gas stove

I had the same problem, and finally took the rings and the covers off of the burners. I used an old toothbrush to clean everything really good, and then used a vacuum ( or you can just close your eyes and blow really hard ) around the burners. If there is a build up of junk or if a pot has ever boiled over, sometimes junk can get lodged in the little igniter and this prevents it from lighting.
