Question about Canon EOS Elan 7ne 35mm SLR Camera
I have tried all the suggested fixes to no avail. when i put the battery/ies in (have tried with and without the grip) the camera seems to fire up as normal but as soon as i press the shutter is just closes down. pressing the shutter button only results in the initial message 'busy' then the Err 99 message shows. when i turn off the power switch, the light button continues to show until i take the battery/ies out.
any help appreciated. thanks, Ken
Try going into the menu and turning off the lock for shooting without a lens. Then try firing it without a lens to see if it works. Very often a lens problem can cause the Err 99 message.
Also, check to make sure the pop-up flash is not stuck down. That could also cause it.
Unless you have used your camera a LOT, it shouldn't be a bad shutter. They usually only quit after many years of use. I think Canon quotes 125,000 shots as the normal life of a shutter in a digital SLR.
