T.V. will shut down by itself occaisionally. Try repeatedly to turn back on and it will attempt to after a minute or so (green light comes on briefly, but no picture) After 1 or more tries it will come back on and work normally. Maybe for the rest of the day or maybe just for an hour or 2. Once when I turned it back on it had the convergence problem people mention (3-D effect) this went away when I turned set off and back on. Has only happened on one occaision.

That tv is very old and it just reached its life expectancy. It could be repaired but it will cost you more than a brand new tv. Black Friday coming up and you will find a great deal.

A problem in the deflection board. Could be a Cap. Resoldering the deflection board may take care of the problem. You need to call a TV man to do this kind of work.

Tv shuts itself down

This is due to bad caps read here what a cap is www.badcaps.net see you tv is getting hot as normal but the caps cannot stand it any more thus shutting the tv down. The bad caps would be more or less in the power supply unit of this TV. So you can buy a new psu or get it repaired by a expert.

One must be very careful of the quality of the replacement lamp. Many of the cheap 'deals' on the web for replacement lamps are substandard. I always recommend that replacement bulbs be the original manufacturers bulb.

Turns off by itself after i've turned it on

I have this same TV and had a similar problem. This may or may not be the same case with yours. The button panel on the front of your TV may be having connection problems. Mine would come on and off by itself. I took the front panel off and cleaned the connection on the button board with a q-tip and a little dab of alcohol. This cleared up the problem of it turning itself on and off.

Tv shuts itself off

The power supply may be going on to protection mode. This is usualy because one of the scan amplifiers may have failed, or something is taking too much current and forcing the power supply to shut down.
