Question about Hitachi 53UDX10B 53" Rear Projection Television
The picture shows yellow shadows to the sides of the images and no longer has true color. There was a mention of bulbs needing to be replaced. Could this be what is causing it? We have a Hitachi HDTV Ultravision digital model #53UDX10B V1G005239. If it is a bulb is it possible to fix it ourselves, my husband is electronically knowledgable? If we can't fix it ourselves, what kind of cost are we looking at?
Thank you for your help
Since this is a CRT based projection set, there is no "lamp" involved. Does the picture look like 3-D? If so, the problem is likely to be a convergence problem. There should be 1 or 2 convergence ICs marked STK392-110 inside attached to a heatsink. If you can solder, try resoldering the pins on those ICs. If that fails to resolve the problem, replace them.
