Well if you have an eyeglass screwdriver just take out the battery and that will set it back to miles if it changed to km as it did with me. I don't know if that is what you meant by "reset" it but that solution worked for me.

Samsung Blackjack hard reset not working

the only other way to reset your phone is to open it and locate a tiny little battey called cmos,u need to short the little battery out to reset the phone, touch it with a piece of wire and u should see it spark, the cell needs to have power and should be on, thats the tricky part, if it still fails u need to restore ur software and that u need to send in.

Htc touch camera doesnt work... did soft and hard reset n tried to start camera app. from windows folder but no response....help needed !

Among the many issues with the Touch, the camera is another. If a hard reset doesnt work, your device will need a new camera. If you have Sprint, this can be replaced at any service center for no charge if you have insurance and there is a part for immediate repair.

Just to confirm, when you do a hard reset make sure that you press and hold both of the softkeys while sticking the stylus in the reset hole until it asks to reset.

Resetting the Device

Sometimes there is a need to reset your Pocket PC. Resetting the
device is known as performing a "soft" or "hard" reset.

Performing a Soft Reset

A soft reset stops all running applications, but does not erase any
programs or saved data. Be sure to save any unsaved data within
a running application before performing a soft reset.
Perform a soft reset to:
■ Stop all running applications
■ Install a new application
■ Restart the Pocket PC if it stops responding

To perform a soft reset:

1. Locate the recessed Reset button on the bottom of your iPAQ
Pocket PC.
2. Use the stylus to lightly press the Reset button.
The Pocket PC restarts and displays the Today screen.

Performing a Hard Reset

Perform a hard reset only when you want to clear all
user-installed settings, applications, and data from RAM
(Random Access Memory), where data and applications you have
loaded are stored.

CAUTION: If you perform a hard reset, your Pocket PC loses all data
and programs not saved in iPAQ File Store.

To perform a hard reset:

1. Press and hold down the Calendar and iTask buttons.
2. While holding down these buttons, use the stylus to
lightly press the Reset button on the bottom of the iPAQ
Pocket PC for about two seconds.

3. When the Pocket PC screen begins to fade, release the
Calendar and iTask buttons first, and then remove the stylus
from the Reset button.

Note: If you simultaneously push and hold the Reset, Calendar,
and iTask buttons for more than two seconds, the battery
disconnects. To restart the device, either plug the device into the
AC Adapter or press the Reset button again.
After performing a hard reset, you may need to reinstall
applications stored in iPAQ File Store to restore shortcuts and full
functionality.

4. The Pocket PC resets and powers on.

To return your iPAQ Pocket PC to factory settings after
performing a hard reset:

1. Tap Start > Programs > File Explorer > My Device.
2. Tap the iPAQ File Store folder to open it.
3. Tap Edit > Select All.
4. Tap and hold the selected files, then tap Delete.
5. Tap Yes to delete all file in iPAQ File Store.

I lost the password and need to reset it. Please help.

I contacted Sharp Tech support who told me to:

Touch the reset button on the back of the unit. The display will show "RESET?"

Touch the 2nd tab on the front of the unit.

Touch ENTER

This will reset the unit to factory settings. All information will be lost, but you will be able to use the unit again. I did this and it worked beautifully.

Remove any SD cards and check to make sure no buttons are stuck. Then do a function reset. This prevents system extensions from loading (you will need a soft reset after that to get back to normal operating mode). If that doesn't help, do a hard reset (this will wipe your data and you will need to restore it). If the problem comes back after you restore your data, you will need to hard reset again and restore your apps singly or a few at a time, until you locate which one is causing the problem. Or it may come back when you put your SD cards back in, in which case you may have one or more corrupted files there.

Stop PDA from resetting itself

You need to Hard Reset your device to the deafult manufacter setup. This is easy to do, just open the user manual and read how to preform a ahard reset. Doing so should return the device to its initial factory setup where the on going resets should not happen.
