You do get it from the top. remove 2 screws by lint filter lid. there are 2 clips you can pop-up on the front corners of the top. it will raise and you will be able to un-wire it then. be sure to un-plug your dryer first.

Were is the reset button onwhirlpool model ler4634bq1

There is no "reset" button. If the light stays on it is almost certain your door switch is broken. The door switch turns the light on/off when the door is opened/closed, and likewise allows the dryer to turn on/off when the door is closed/opened. These switches do break and are relatively easy to change. First, ALWAYS DISCONNECT APPLIANCE FROM POWER; second, remove lint filter screen and unscrew the two phillips screws located on the dryer top next to the lint screen handle; third, using a putty knife release the top retention clips located at the front near each side in the gap between the top and front panels; fourth, swing the top up and back out of the way and remove the two 1/4" hex head screws located inside the cabinet on either side near the top that hold the front panel in place; fifth, disconnect the door switch wiring from the plug connection and lift the front panel up and away from the cabinet. Now you can replace the door switch and reassemble in reverse order.

Dryer does not stop when you open door

The door switch is sticking. Door switch is around the door opening and is located where the door would push it in when the door is closed. It may just need cleaning or putting back in its rightful place or it may be broken and need replacing.

More info, let me know.

My kenmore dryer model 110 60952990 will not turn on but there is power going to it.

Considering there is no display panel of any kind, I will assume that you have a volt meter and that is how you know it is getting power. The most common problem would be a defective door switch. Unplug your dryer. Lift up on the front corners of the top of the unit. The top will pop up and tilt toward the back. You will need someone to hold the top up or use a stick. It is like opening the hood of a car. There is a lot of steps to remove the top so if you can get in this way it will save you time. Unplug the wires going to the switch. Use your volt meter and test for continuity on the door switch. With the door closed it should read 0. Thus allowing power to go to timer. If it does not then it is a bad switch. When the door is open there should be a plastic leg hanging into the opening at the top. Sometimes this gets broken off and now the switch is bad or broken. Open the door and remove two screws on door switch and get a new one from Sears Parts Direct or your local appliance parts house. Then put it all back together and plug in the dryer. Hope this helps.

My whirlpool dryer has a black switch in the upper right hand side of the door that seems to have broken. now the dryer doesn't start (I'm almost positive there is some sort of electrical connection issue...

You are referring to the door switch. This will definitely keep the dryer from running. When the door closes, the switch also closes, which provides an electrical path to the timer, switch and start motor. If the switch is broken, the dryer will not run. You will need to open the dryer to access the switch to replace. This is accomplished by lifting the top panel and/or removing the dryer front.

If the model number is correct, just follow these steps:

1. UNPLUG the dryer and remove the lint screen.

2. Remove the two screws that were under the lint screen and lift the dryer top panel.

3. Locate the door switch and unplug the connector plug. Remove the mounting screw(s) that hold the switch in place. The part number for a replacement switch is 3406105.

Replacement parts can be ordered on line at any of the following websites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

All these sites offer great service with competitive pricing, so shop and compare. The first three sites I have listed also inlcude helpful exploded view diagrams that can help you locate and properly indentify the parts you may need.

NOTE: Placing a piece of duct tape over the dryer vent chute will help safeguard against dropping anything down in the blower fan assembly. If you drop any screws down the chute, you will need to remove the dryer back panel to retrieve them. If you have any questions about this repair, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Whirlpool electric dryer will not start Model # LER6644DQO

HI, check the following to address this issue.

1. No power to the dryer
Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer will not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

Note: Door switch actuator lever usually comes with the door switch assembly and it is recommended to get the whole assembly since there is almost no price difference between the door switch assembly and just the lever. Check your model for more details.

3. Thermal fuse
Most dryers have a thermal fuse, which burns out when the dryer overheats, in which case the dryer will either not run at all or stop heating. The fuse is usually located on the vent duct, inside the dryer. A blown fuse will show no continuity when measured with a meter. Before replacing the fuse, make sure the blower wheel is not broken or clogged, and there is nothing blocking the venting.

Note: It is recommended by most dryer manufacturers to replace a hi-limit thermostat when replacing a thermal fuse.

4. Timer
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

**The most common issue here will be a defective Thermal fuse

CHECK THE FOLLOWING--

Make sure there's power getting to the dryer. Check for a tripped circuit breaker or a blown fuse. Check the wall socket for power with a voltmeter or by plugging something else in. Sometimes the power cord disconnects or burns at the dryer, if this is the case, the wiring and the terminal block must be repaired or replaced.

2. Door switch / Door switch actuator lever
The dryer would not start with a broken door switch. Replace the door switch if found defective.

Most dryers have a door switch actuator lever - when you close a dryer door, it presses against the lever, which actuates the door switch. If the lever is broken, the switch would not activate and the dryer would not start. Replace the lever, if broken.

DRYER WILL NOT WORK

First check the electrical panel to your house. If it's a fuse panel check the fuses. If it's a breaker panel, reset it by flicking it off, then back on (do this even if it looks like it's already on).

If the dryer still doesn't work...

1) Check the door switch by pressing it in and listening for a clicking sound as you do so. If the door switch actuator spring is broken or if there is no click, replace the door switch assembly. This is done by removing the 2 screws under the lint trap screen and lifting the cabinet top. From there you can access the door switch. REMEMBER TO UNPLUG THE DRYER! You can also use a jumper wire on the door switch to verify it's function (unplug the door switch and connect a jumper wire to the 2 wires going to the console.

2) Check for a broken belt by lifting the cabinet top and visually inspecting the belt or by manually turning the drum from the inside (you should feel resistance or hear the motor turning).

3) Unplug the dryer and remove the back panel. On the heater housing remove the wires from the thermal cut-off and high limit thermostat and check the resistance with an ohm meter. If either of them are open (no reading) replace both (they come as a kit).

3) If everything checks out so far it may be the timer.

Good luck!
