Clean advent 5611 fan

Laptops are notorious for overheating. The fan and cooling vents also get clogged easily. Even a 'clean' place has some dust in the air, and it is attracted by the fan and static. Canned air will take care of some of it. Opening the laptop is complicated and not for the weak of heart. When the laptop is running, you'll feel air movement. spray through that vent with the laptop turned off.

HP M7357c overheating problem

When the CPU in the computer or laptopoverheats then it will shut down (i.e. thermal overload) and won't boot upagain until it has cooled down. If this is the problem is not fixed then theCPU will eventually fail.
A faulty fan causes this problem or the fan and heat sink assembly are cloggedwith dust.
Check the CPU fan to see if it spins freely, if not replace the fan. If the fan and heat sink is clogged withdust the remove the dust and make sure the vents are clear and dust free. Use acan of compressed air to do this.

Why does a fan keep turning on and off every few seconds

Hi!
Usually what you'll find is that the fan will turn on and off as the computer heats up and cools down. The fact that it turns on and off every few seconds could imply that either: a) Your computer heats up and cools down very often (not likely) b) Something is causing your computer to not sense the correct heat c) There is something impeding your fan from working properly (most likely).
I would recommend using an air duster to blow all of the dust out of the fan area and see if that improves anything.
Additionally, you can download free software which will monitor your CPU temperature, and that should let you know if you're within a reasonable range (Google for specific numbers).
Good luck! -SJ

Computer is a Lenovo TC M52 P4 / 3.2 - I have added a sound card, a PCI express Geforce graphics card and a NIC card. The problem seems to be overheating as it only shuts down like this during the summer...

The case fan should start running as soon as you turn on the computer. I would replace the fan with a higher capacity (CFM). If you have a case that can take 2 case fans, I would install the send fan. Also with the case off, check that the CPU cooler fan is functioning. With the quick shut off, I would suspect that the CPU cooler fan is not functioning. I could be impeded by dust. Vacuum and blow out any dust on the motherboard, fans and battery fan while you have the case off.
This should aleviate the shutoff problem due to overheating.
Let me know if this solves the problem.
Please rate this solutution. Thanks.

NOISY FAN ADVENT T9302 COMPUTER ON ALL THE TIME

Ok, for your first issue, remove the side from the case, and have some compressed air at the ready. from a distance of 6-12 inches direct the air into the heatsink and blow out as much dust as possible. do this also for the power supply and an other fans and areas where dust is caked on. Secondly, this issue can also be attributed to a bad stick of RAM.

My gateway 510x keeps shutting itself off. Sometimes after 5 minutes of booting up sometimes after 30 seconds. What could be the problem? Tried removing dust from the inside but that did not help.

sounds like your processor fan shut down and now your processor itself shuts off when it begins to over heat replace fan asap and don't keep trying to turn it on because you'll burn it out

We have an Advent 7088 laptop and want to connect it to wireless router. We thought a wireless facility was already installed in the 7088 but when we try the wireless on/off button nothing happens. What...

Try this: I found it after doing some searching on the web.

Wireless card stops working after upgrading to Windows Vista
After upgrading to Windows Vista everything works fine apart the Marvell Wireless card, when you press the button nothing happens.
There seems to be three different ways of solving this problem (there is a fourth - don't install Vista) and I've listed them below, hopefully at least one should work for you.
The first solution is to press the wireless button while Windows Vista is loading, you have to be quick though as it only works if you press the button between the loading scrolling lines logo (after the post screen) and before the windows logo appears.
The second is to go into Device Manager, select the Marvell Wireless card and then go to Properties>Advanced>Default Adhoc Mode. Here change the Default Adhoc mode to B or G. When you confirm the change the wireless connection should become active, if it doesn't then press the wireless button and try changing the setting again.
The third method is to create a desktop shortcut to the wireless adapter. Go to [Network and Sharing Centre]>[Manage Network Connections] and then right click the wirless connection and choose Create Shortcut. You can then switch on the wireless at any time, just point at the shortcut then right click and chose Disable. Once its disabled right click on the shortcut again and choose Enable. It should then connect within 20-30 seconds.

Computer that will turn itself off , please help!

The problem is overheating. Take the pc apart and clean any dust from the fans inside. Use compressed air and be careful to not bump anything. Please remember to turn off the computer first. There is a large circuit board inside with a fan on it, this is the cpu. Clean this one thoroughly because it is causing the overheating. Another tip is to not set the pc on the floor where it sucks in dirt. Hope this helps.
