Hi,
If you look inside the battery compartment or on the spec label (usually on the back) it should have a diagram or tell you. Usually it's 4x C size/type batteries.

Which battery is better for cameras backup?

Normally, for Panasonic brand you have to use Panasonic original batteries for better backup. You have to buy newly branded batteries such as Panasonic, Kodak or Energizer in very reasonable rates. I suggest you check this link. http://www.batterywarehouse.co.uk

Panasonic CF 50 battery light flashing red light

A "Red" Flashing Battery Light on ALL
Panasonic Toughbook Models means
that the battery is no longer functional
and can no longer hold a charge properly.

If you really require a battery then you
may be able to order a replacement
battery from the Panasonic Parts Dept.

An original battery cost might exceed the
value of an old CF50 so be aware and
take note.

It is possible to completely remove the
battery pack and use the CF50 without
a functional battery pack with no problems.

Good Luck
