My toshiba satilite L305D-S5940 Wont charge has new battery new power cord It comes on acts like its going to work then shuts off and sometimes wont come on What could it be please

Hi there,
1st : you can check from the power cable charge
2nd : check the adaptor charger if there is a light indicator or not, or you can check with multimeter to check the voltage on charger adaptor, does show the proper voltage for your laptop, you can check at the end of the connection that leads to the laptop.
note : Remember use DC current at Multimeter
3rd : if the adaptor running well, just plug on the adaptor charger to the laptop, dont turn on the laptop power, just see the light indicator with battery / lightning image on laptop, its explained that there is or is not the power current running to the laptop.
3rd.A : if its no power goes to the laptop then your adaptor charger is failed
3rd.B : if is there, there must be a problem with your motherboard, section power / power plugs, why do not want to charge with a new battery.
Conclusion :
- if the problem on number 1 & 2, then you can change the power cord and the adaptor charger.
- if there is problem on the 3rd.B then you can go to the toshiba services center for your problem.

thats all, hope its help.

So far, I've been using an AC power converter for my Toshiba Portégé 3440CT PC notebook that has a round DC plug on the end of the DC cable. This means I have to plug this into the multimedia...

Just for fun I did a Google search for replacement adaptor vendors in the UK. Here are the first couple that came up: one place, another one. You shouldn't have any trouble finding what you need on your side of the pond.

And I have no idea if there's a specific name for that type connector. It's just called "power jack" in Toshiba's parts list.

Toshiba m115 will not power on

Hi kipdidy23
You have eliminated all that you could with the fualt finding. You will unfoertunetly have to take the notebook in to a repair centre. The charging circuit on the motherboard is blown. Please feel free to search he Repair Service Directory on this site for a repair centre close to you.

Hey :-) I'd be happy to help. Your problem isn't that bad but I would recommend for you to buy a charger specifically made for your laptop. Here's a link for a charger specifically made for your laptop.

Power problem

take the power adaptor to a GeekSquad, they can use a voltimeter to test and see if it's putting out the correct voltage. Otherwise the DC Jack(Where the adaptor plugs in) may have had stress and cracked off the motherboard, meaning it would need service center repair.

sounds like you have an intermittent problem with your AC adaptor or dc input jack. Does the light on the AC adaptor light up when you plug it in? If it does then your dc input jack may be faulty. If the light on the ac adaptor does not light then replace the ac adaptor. Good Luck!
