The problem is caused by the failure of either the defrost thermostat or defrost heater. In any case, replacing both the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat is recommended, and that would solve your "ice in freezer" problem.

My refrigerator has water coming out of freezer & ice build up on bottom of inside freezer

Hello, this sounds like you have a blockage in the drain tube, remove panel back/bottom of freezer..you may see ice build up...melt ice with hair dryer/heat gun...you will see a pan below evaporator...melt ice in pan...dry water up in pan with paper towel...now you should see a hole in pan that leads to drain tube...pour some hot water in pan..wait a couple minutes..mop up water and repeat this step 2-3 times....once you have done this find some flexible curatain wire or electrical wire..poke down the hole until you see the water drain..now it is clear..put back panel back and you are good to go. The reason you see water in the fridge is because the water has been leaking into the freezer and down the vent into the fridge instead of running into the drain hole...Please feel free to comment again if you need any further assistance. All items in freezer were defrosted when I opened the door this morning. Fridge is semi cold.

Hi

Some leaking water refrigerator helps....

  1. My older style Amana freezer on top refrigerator is leaking inside
  2. My refrigerator is leaking water inside
  3. My refrigerator is leaking water onto the floor
My refrigerator is leaking water inside the fridge:

Most times this is a plugged defrost drain system. The defrost heater in the freezer section melts the frost and changes it to water, this water is suppose to flow down a drain system. If this drain system is restricted or plugged the water will leak inside the refrigerator. The drain system starts in the freezer section with a tray built under the evaporator coil. The water is funneled through a small hose into a cup in the top middle of the fresh food section ( not on all models, but this is the most common way ), from there, the water is directed out the back wall to a drain hose that runs down the back of the refrigerator into a condensing tray. The heat created under the fridge makes the water evaporate and disappear. Some of the cups ( in the top back of the fresh food section ) can be removed for cleaning. A turkey baster can be used to help clean out the drain system. Fill the baster with hot water and "blast" it into the drain hose to help flush it out. A piece of wire or pipe cleaner can also be pushed into the drain hoses to help clean then out. On a S x S style of fridge the drain system is in the bottom back of the freezer section and often you will have to remove the evaporator cover to access the drain hole. You can clean this out in the same manner as previously mentioned, but because of the water leaking into the freezer instead of the fresh food section you will have to remove the ice build up to clean out the drain system. For some reason Whirlpool has found a need to "hide" the drain hose inside the walls now ( Whirlpool makes many of the Kenmore branded refrigerators ) on there top freezer refrigerators. This makes accessing the drain hose to flush it out more difficult, no cup inside the fresh food section, no hose down the outside back wall and the only access is inside the freezer section behind the back false wall and under the evaporator coils.

Please do rate the solution as FixYa and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Leaking frost-free Zanussi fridge-freezer

Has this thing a separate frezer and cooler compartment.
Have tried to completely defrost and clean that thing.
At times like in airco's the pinch valve for the cooling process to effect (expansion) is stuck frozen, or very seldom broke.

Fridge on top of freezer is not chilling

if you have a french door (also known as bottom mount, freezer on bottom) and your fridge sections(cold air blows from freezer to refrig) is not cooling try this

1. ensure you hear the fan running, its it not, thats it(most likely fan motor
IF fan is running check these things
1. ensure refrig section light shuts off by holding down the switch
2. ensure door shuts
3. clean conderser coils (usually accessed from front through base grille)
4. check for icing in vents, freezer section contain them at top or back, and for a bottom mount the refrig sections vents are under your BIG drawer. if iced try a hair dryer from distance. or empty food into another fridge unplug open doors, and plug back in two days later this should defrost all ice build up
