I have outdoor speakers connected to the surr.back/amp assign terminals. The amp assign is set up for zone 2. I get good sound through those speakers using the tuner and ipod input source but no sound when I have it set on DVR (watching TV and listening to the TV audio outside). If I set the amp assing to bi-amp I get sound but it is extremely quiet no matter how much I turn it up. My DVR is connected to the reciever via HDMI cable. How can I make it so that my outdoor speakers play the audio for the TV show that I am watching? Thanks

Zone 2 Setup on the RX-V773 using the ZONE2/PRESENCE Extra Speakers
The RX-V773 extra speaker terminals can power one set of speakers for Zone 2 or Presence speakers. If the extra speaker terminals are utilized then the RX-V773 cannot be set for Bi Amp (Surround Back/BI-AMP terminals).
Setting the Extra Speaker Terminals
Note: The RX-V773 remote control will be used to access the On Screen Menu of receiver.
1. Press the On Screen button on the remote control to enter the On Screen Menu.
2. The On Screen display should be displayed on the TV/Monitor.
3. Press the Arrow Down button on the remote until Setup comes up in the screen.
4. Press the Enter Button on the remote control.
5. The Setup Menu will come up across the TV/Monitor screen.
6. Use the Arrow Left & Right buttons on the remote to navigate to Speaker.

8. Press the Enter Button on the remote control to enter Speaker Manual Setup menu.
9. Speaker Manual Setup menu with Power Amp Assign highlighted will come up.
10. Press the Enter Button on the remote control to enter Power Amp Assign menu.
11. Speaker Manual Setup, Power Amp Assign menu will come up with Basic highlighted.
12. Press the Arrow Down button on the remote to select 7ch+1ZONE.
13. Press the Enter button on the remote to select 7ch+1ZONE.

To control Zone 2 using the RX-V773 remote, the switch at the upper left side (above the BD/DVD Scene button) of the remote must be set to Zone 2. To see the operations on the front of the Yamaha receiver you must press the Zone Control button on the front of the receiver.
Note: Only analog signals can be sent to Zone 2. If you want to output the sound from Zone 2, connect an external component to USB Thumb drive, USB iPhone/iPod, Network, AV 5-6 or Audio 1-2 by analog connection. For AM/FM radio the antennas must be attached.
zone 2 volume can be adjusted by zone2 remote control (small one which came with the unit) or by main remote control if you switch it to zone2 mode. My main rem control has a slide switch i have to put in zone 2 position to operate zone 2 amp.
have the same model. just got it to work. but, struggling with one part. here's the scoop. 1. Plug your second zone speakers into the SURR BACK/AMP ASSIGN speaker outputs on the unit. 2. You need to "amp assign" the speakers to zone 2 by pressing AMP, MENU, select SPEAKER SETUP, AMP ASSIGN and scroll to ZONE 2 - this will force the sound to the speakers that you plugged in. 3 - Turn on Zone 2 (press Z2, press ON button on remote). Use the UP/DOWN arrows to select the input for Zone 2. I've only been successful in selecting USB and plugging my iphone in for zone 2. For some reason, I cannot get the SAT (cable box) to play in both zone 1 and zone 2 at the same time. But, I can get SAT in zone 1 and USB in zone 2. Hope that helps. Let me know if you can solve my issue...
go audio out of you sat box into a 2 channel amp or into your surround receiver if you have a 2nd zone, if the surround receiver is 7.1 u can most likely hook them up to the surround back and then change the setting to be a 2nd zone instead of surr back hope this helps.
I had the same questions and still can't believe there isn't more information on the topic. It's crazy how much marketing Denon devotes to their Multi-Zone features yet offers very little reference materials on the actual set up. I guess most customers don't use the fearture? Here you go:
-The Multi-Zone on the Denon 4802 is analog only. If you are running digital coax or fiber you will have to run a second line that's analog (eg RCA red/white) from the source to the Denon in order for the signal to to make it to the Zone 2 speakers (regardless if it's Pre-Amp out or direct connect to the Zone 2 speakers from the multi/SB speaker outs. Regarding the Harmony question, I had the same problem with my Harmony 880 and wasn't able to find an answer after multiple searches. Luckily I figured it out when I deleted the receiver from the Logitec device list and started over. Connect the remote to your computer, launch the Logitec Harmony Remote Software, click the Devices tab, hit the Add Device, pick the device type & manufacturer from the drop down list, enter "AVR-4802" under Model and finally hit the Next button in the lower right corner of the UI. The next page solves the Harmony Zone 2 control problem. You will see a message "To use your device in additional zones/rooms, click the checkbox...." Make sure Room 2 is checked (mine was not), update the remote and you're done. The Harmony Device menu you will now contain a second receiver icon called "receiver 2." Hit "device" on the Harmony, choose "receiver 2" and you will gain control over Zone 2 including volume.
time to reset the microprocessor. See page 87 in manual.
1) switch off the unit using the main unit's power operation (small power button)
2) hold the PURE DIRECT button and DIRECT button at same time and turn the main unit's power operation on.
3) wait for entire display to flash in 1 second intervals
now the speakers need to be set up again but zone 2 will be working. i suspect a power surge causes the microprocesser to be corrupted. i put a power surge protector and have not had problems (lately).
you have to change the power amp assignment to zone 2, you must also have Analog audio connections to the Denon from your devices.
Try this put your remote in the zone 2 mode, select tuner in zone 2 and turn zone 2 volume up to -10
PUT YOUR OUTDOOR SPEAKERS INTO SURROUND BACK SPEAKER "PORTS"AS YOU CALL THEM GEMMEG THEN GO TO UR SET UP MENU AND SWITCH ON ZONE 2 OR IT MAY BE AS SIMPLE AS A SWITCH ON THE FRONT OF YOUR AMP.IFF YOU STILL HAVE NO SOUND YOU MAY HAVE 2 TURN THE VOLUME UP FOR ZONE 2.ALSO SOME AMP NEED TO HAVE THE SOURCE ; IE WHAT U WANT 2 PLAY INTO ZONE 2 FOR EXAMPLE YOUR CD PLAYER.HOPE THIS HELPS ,IFF NOT GET BACK 2 ME 2 C IFF I CAN DO ANYTHING ELSE.
