Re: forgotton name and password
Have you tried admin and password? The defaults if you haven't changed them.
Or if you did.
Reset for most routers with a reset button on the rear panel
Write down configuration information such as IP addresses, security keys, opened ports and services, etc., that you modified. (The default username is admin and the password is either password or 1234. Try these before resetting the router.)
Press the reset button on the back until the test light blinks. This takes about 10 seconds. (To avoid accidental resets, the small button is recessed. Use a pen or paperclip to access it.)
Release the button.
Wait for the router to reboot.
Log in with the default password.
If the router was not cleared, try these additional steps AFTER the router has finished rebooting.
Unplug the router's power.
Press and hold the reset button. While the button is held down, reconnect router's power.
Continue to hold the reset button for 20 seconds after reconnecting the power.
If you have registered your Netgear router you do not need to reset the router. I had the same problem, bought a new laptop and couldn't remember the password. I rang the technical support number that was on the box, and they were able to help me find the password when I gave them the serial number on the bottom of the box.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Your router came with 'default' admin account name and password. Use the manual to find them and log on to the router. Find the manual on the net if you don't have it. You can then reset the router to the default settings (see http://portforward.com/networking/forgot-router-password.htm) - and use the manual's information to log on to the router.
There are two different things. One is the Login/ Password to log in to the router user interface for configuration. Second is the Network Key, which you have to provide to get access to the internet. If you have forgotton the Network Key and know the login/ password, you can log on to the router settings and reset the Network Key. In case you have forgotten the login/ password of the router, ALL YOU CAN DO IS TO RESET THE ROUTER TO FACTORY SETTINGS You may reset router to factory setting from the reset button on the
back side of the router. It may be a push button or else use a paper pin to press the button for few
seconds, the lights on the front would blink and the router would
restart with factory setting. Please not that ALL SETTING WOULD BE
LOST...AND YOU WOULD HAVE TO MAKE CONFIGURATIONS AND SETTING ALL OVER AGAIN. Configuration may be tricky sometimes and you have to secure the network/ router.
Hope it helps! Good Luck! Thanks for using Fixya! CreativeTECH
If its your internet router that is providing the WiFi and you forgot your code/ssid you can simply speak to who ever set up your WiFi to see if they have the information. Now if you know your user name and password for your router, you can log in to it by typing in your ip address into the address bar, most routers will then prompt your for your info. If you set it up but forgot that info and do not know your user name and password to log into router. Then you have to Reset your router to create all that info again. Some routers have a reset button on the device that you can press to reset and set up again. If it does not have a button your user's manual should tell you how to reset, also you can go to manufactures website and find your router to locate steps as well.
1. You will have to reset the router to factory default and run the setup wizard using your set up CD and create a new key. Set up your laptop on the router using either the MAC address or a new password key.
1.Log into router 2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off) 3.Note router name you are connecting to. 4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP adresses. 5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address. 6.Note router name you are connecting to. 7. Move the laptop about 20ft away and try to log on to the internet. This is for all routers to set up wirelessly.
There will be a "reset" button somewhere on the back of the router ...no doubt a small hole you need to stick a straightened out paper clip into. Press the rest button and the router will go back to factory settings. Netgear usually use the user name "admin" and the password "1234" to log into routers for default. Any WEP/WPA settings you has set on the router will be gone too, so you need to go back in and set up your security again.
