If you are having this kind of a problem with Gateway support, then you need to get out off the call center loop and get directly to the problem. This is what worked for me when Gateway did the same thing to my M675: (I ended up with a new replacement laptop. Your results may vary.)

Call the corporate office and get a live person on the phone. It doesn't matter who it is as long as you can get them to forward you on to a manager who can take a complaint regarding repair services. If you get to the manager in charge of technical services, then you have gotten to the right place and your problem will soon get resolved.

Don't ever take no for an answer. Insist that they take responsibility for their failure to repair your laptop and get this resolved immediately. Be sure to mention the warranty every time they sound like they want to hang up on you and the fact that you still do not have a functioning laptop.

Take close-up pictures of everything still visibly broken and email those to whomever begins to take responsibility for your situation. It will speed things up and avoid the whole troubleeshoot-over-the-phone situation.

Gateway Corporate offices:

Gateway 14303 Gateway Place
Poway, CA 92064
Phone: (858) 848-3401
Fax: (858) 848-3402

Note: Opt out of their phone system immediately by either #0#0, *0*0, or punch all 0's until it says it is forwarding your call. This will save you some serious hassle.

Hope this helps.

Studio 1737 wont recognize charger

Step 1:
If your laptop charger seems broken, it's most likely because the battery will not charge. You plug in the cord, the lights come on, but the charging light doesn't change or blinks repeatedly. When you remove the power cord, the laptop shuts off instantly due to the depleted battery. There's more than one cause for this, and it's not always a broken charger.

Check the connection between the charger and the laptop. It should fit firmly in the DC jack without wiggling. If it is loose, use electrical tape to hold it in place so the charger can receive power. This is a temporary fix, however, because a faulty connection can create sparks and cause a fire or injury. A loose connection will just get worse over time, so have it sent to a DC jack specialist as soon as possible. Turn off the laptop and flip it upside down. Locate the latch that secures the battery and slide open. The battery should pop out; give it a tug if it doesn't. Apply a small amount of rubbing alcohol (Methylated Spirits)to the tip of a cotton swab and use it to clean the battery's connectors. Dirt can build up and interfere with the connection, giving the appearance of a broken charger. Let the alcohol dry completely and re-insert the battery. Slide the latch to secure it and plug in the power cord to test it. See if the laptop powers on with the charger only and battery removed. If it does, the battery is the likely culprit and should be replaced. If the charger is truly broken, the only thing to do is to replace it or the power cord attached to it. Look on the bottom and write down the part number. Call the laptop manufacturer for a replacement charger or search for the part number on eBay. If you purchase from anyone other than the original manufacturer, ask for genuine parts to reduce the possibility of problems. Troubleshoot Mag Safe adaptors

Gateway kav60 not charging. i have to wiggle the cord and sometimes it refuses to charge.

I guess you've got a broken laptop power dc jack or power cable.

Symptoms of a broken Laptop DC power jack:

- The laptop only operates when you hold the DC power plug in a certain direction (DC jack is broken or loose).
- The laptop only runs on battery power (no power is getting through the DC jack).
- The laptop gets no power at all.
- The laptop will not charge the battery.
- The laptop switches from AC power to battery power intermittently due to a loose or broken power jack.
- The laptop suddenly shuts off.
- The DC jack may feel loose.
- Sparks come out of the back of the laptop when you insert the power plug into the DC jack.

Samsung YP-U3 won't charge anymore

it is possible that either your cable is bad or the battery is dead. but first try hitting the reset button on the back-(it is a tiny hole on the back, towards the bottom) - use a small paperclip
