Question about Brother LS-1217 Mechanical Sewing Machine

Open Question

Feed Dog I have a singer quantum futura ce200, and the first thing is when I move the feed dog switch from left or to right the feed dog does not go up or come down I have to reach in with my fingers and manually pull it up. I haven't found anything in the manual for it. And it is my first time w/ this machine, but I do believe it is suppose to move it up or down (for darning or sewing). And the fabric wasn't advancing so I had to pull the feed dog up, and it doesn't seem to work as well as when I was first using it. The second problem I am having (don't know if they're related) is, as I am sewing it will beep and I have to pick my foot up and start again. It will beep like every 10 stitches. the threading is correct, no needle broken, and it sews fine, however, it continues to beep throughout the project.

SOURCE: Bobbin Case Slipping

I have found that this usually starts with the top thread somehow getting stuck - either in the tension control, or wrapped around the post. Generally, this pulls the bobbin case out of alignment, and the needle hits it. If the needle hits in just the right/wrong place, it can gouge the bobbin case, making a rough spot or hook that will catch the thread, causing the problem to repeat more often, and without any apparent cause. If the nicks and gouges are not too bad, I have been able to file them down, or use a pair of scissors to scrape any protruding bits off. If there are too many gouges, or they are too deep for this to work, you need a new bobbin case. I have purchased them from sewvacdirect.com for $20-30, plus shipping.

Look at the feed dogs under the foot see if they are raised high enough to pull the material through.

To make the feed dogs come up ... turn your wheel about 2 times all the way and they will come up (this is after you switch the feed dog switch to the up position)

It depends on your software version. The list of supported formats could be found in the manual, on Futura support site or checked right through the sofware menu (File->Open, File->Save as)

My Singer Quantum 9960 doesn't seem to be moving the material when I am sewing. It sews in the same spot and then the material gets stuck.

Am guessing you've already verified the feed dogs are in the raised position. The other thing to check is the presser foot pressure. If you are sewing lighter weight fabric, you may need to increase the pressure to make more contact with the feed dogs, or lighten the pressure when sewing thick fabric. Something else that may help is using a roller, teflon, or walking foot.

On the other hand, if the feed dogs are not moving like they should even if you have the stitch length higher, your machine may need service. Be sure you've cleaned the feed dogs of any accumulation of lint, dirt, debris. Of course, if you have used the machine a lot, the feed dog points do wear so they may not be gripping like new.

I have a futura ce150 and the feed dog is raised but not moving the fabric

Try lowering the feed dog and then raising it again, but be sure to push the switch over as far as possible. Sometimes the switch will stop just a little short and the feed dog will not be 100% raised but it will seem to be to the naked eye. Hope this helps.

I have a futura CE-200. The feed dog is stuck in the down position. The switch will not work. Is this something that I can fix?

I had the same problem with my Singer machine. The lady in Hancocks told me that when you begin sewing the feed dogs will pop back up. Just rotate your wheel and see if that fixes it.

Machine will only work in reverse

If it is like one of the machines I have, you can set it to do mending and embroidery so that the feed dogs to not advance the material. If so, there should be a dial that allows you to re-set it so the feed dogs are not depressed. Hope this helps.
