If the on/off light is not lit, then the monitor is not receiving power for some reason.

This could be:

Power is not available, meaning the outlet maight be dead.

The power supply [power converter too, if it has a square/rectangular box as part of the powercord] for the monitor is bad, meaning it is getting power from the outlet, but nothing makes it to the monitor.

The power converter or cirucuit board in the monitor is bad nad needs to be replaced, because power is getting to the monitor, but the monitor is either not able to convert it into useable current, or the circuit board within the monitor is damaged.

You can find out which is going on by doing the following:

Grab a $10 voltmeter at your hardware store and check the power coming from your outlet, then plug the power cord/converter into the outlet and check the other end for same. Note: If your power cord has a converter on it, check to make sure the voltage/amps are the same as what is printed on the label of power converter. If those are all good, then your monitor needs repair. get a quote first before allowing any work to be done, as it could cost more to fix this than a new monitor would cost.

Gateway 19" lcd color monitor, product no. fpd1960 model no. 900g

Hello,

The most common cause of power up issues with the Gateway FPD1960 monitor is a failure of the filter capacitors on the AIP-0100 power supply board in the unit. Here is a link to repair information for that board.

When I turn my PC on you can hear it come on but the screen is black.

It sounds like you might have a problem with your video card. If you turn it on and see nothing, not even the gateway logo, than you either have a video card issue or a monitor issue. Hook up the mahine to another monitor to test.

Gateway 900G does not stay on, has power

the_princes, On the rear side of LCD screen that you look at are two each long, straight, cold-cathode-fluorescent-tubes that need to "LIGHT-UP"and provide pure WHITE light to be reflected through the LCD glass panel that you look at from the front side! If you don't have any luck with Gateway providing warranty service or doing a swapout with them, then you should possibly look into having it Refurbished by someone locally in your area. I highly recommend that you go to youtube and watch some video clips of LCD MONITOR REPAIR to see exactly what you are getting involved with. When making a post to tthis site you should always give some "history" along with the trouble "symptom" such as how old is unit and approximate total amount of "ON" time the unit has. I hope you can use the info provided. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@aol.com Bye for now.

Gateway 900g monitor will not turn on. When the power button is pushed, the blue light just flashes.

Check the monitor with a known-good cable. Look for bent pins in the connector to be safe. Next, have a bright flashlight handy. Dim or turn off the lights in the room. Turn on the flashlight and hold it very close to the screen. Look around the screen carefully and try to see a dim image in the display--if you can see the computer image, it means a problem exists with either the power supply section or, the actual display section. What is happening in this case is two(2) extemely thin, very bright, fluorescent tubes are failing to ignite. These tubes are usually laid top and bottom on the larger monitors, out of view by the user. Their light is transmitted through a series of specially designed plastic sheets which reflect against a shiny back sheet--this gives you the crisp, bright whites and colors in the image. Warning: if repairable, this is a very involved repair. Have purchasing a new monitor in the back of your mind if you send the unit out to a repair facility for a quote.--Just my thoughts--Rick

Try a different working out to make sure its not a wall outlet issue.if you do that and your still not getting power then the monitor is bad and would need to be replaced.

IC Power 19'' LCD Product PA192D Model # 900G quit working

I C Power PA192D Model 900G, Mfg Sep '05 19inch LCD
I purchased this monitor at Goodwill not working for $20. The 900G power light failed to come on and there was no video when turned on. To fix, first pull the 2 screws at the bottom of the back side of the monitor_ note this face is NOT removed by prying with a screwdriver like other monitors, it IS removed by sliding the face plate Upwards. Remove the LCD screws and remove the wires to the backlights carefully noting what goes where. Remove the metal cover and remove the 110volt power board. I found smoke trails under the cover and a swollen 470uf25v capacitor number C206, and replaced C110, C211 all were 470uf. Reassembled and found no change. Tore down again, used the ESR meter CapAnalyzer 88a and found C114 47uf25v to be 30% working, the volt ohm showed the cap to be good, that's why the ESR meter was needed. Replaced the 47uf25v C114, tested the large 100uf 450v capacitor, it tested only slightly under spec , could not find a 100uf at Radio Shack so did not replace it. So in this attempt the only thing changed was the 47uf C114. Reassembled and now works perfectly.

i'm not an expert at anything...x'cept maybe dumpster diving. God Bless

Gateway 19 in flat monitor Model 900G

Does the power button light up or blink at all ?
It probably is the power board/ inverter. I fix many of these.

To TeeKO, did you try moving it back to see if it was maybe a bad household receptical ?
