Used your info to isolate and verify trouble with the upside blue arch. It was a convergence trouble. Then hired tech from your site recommendation to come out and fix today. He replaced both convergence chips and cleaned electronics. Works like new. Thanks for your help but you should allow customers a one time view-to-trouble search that I think would build a you a solid following. Folks would recognize your site as good source to search when trouble strikes and be more likely to subscribe. It gave me a good sounding benchmark but it could be enhanced. Thanks!

Have a Mitsubishi WS-65819 (about 9 yrs). over past 3-4 weeks the color started to skew (3D like arch on top and bottom), then yesterday, the TV totally powered down and will not power up, totally dead. ...

You lost your convergence IC's and possibly a resister or two that are in the same circuit. If you are good at Soldering, this should be somewhat of an easy fix. I believe you can still get the IC's for this set.

Correct, convergence output chips are getting heated and causing problem. Replace them to solve tv issue.
Also check dry solder connection nearby these chips, resoldering these solder connections will cure dry solder joints problem as well.
Thanks.

Green hazy upside down arch of color across the screen

Your convergence board is in need of reworking on a component level or replacing the board! And you will most undoubtedly need to resolder the vertical IC and all ICs mounted on heatsinks on the power supply board. This TV is showing its age. You may choose to repair and that may last a year more or so! Good Luck and thank you for asking!

Screen is arching at bottom of screen. only does when you first turn it on after 10 0r 15 minutes it fixes itself

This is the begining of a convergence problem and the O/p IC' will probably need replacing.
Try adjusting the convergence. If it won't move see below- (or hitting Magic Focus for some Hitachi’s)

Convergence board would have to be removed - remove and replace 2 STK IC's and check the surrounding resistors. Shops usually charge between $200-$400 Be sure to vote/rate me if this helped Thanks!

Can't aline the vertical red and blue on the left

The Convergence circuit has failed. It is recommended that a professional do the job.
The Convergence IC's need to be replaced.
It will be a STK393-110 or a pair of STK392-570's.
Hope this helps,

3 colors on TV

It sounds like we had the same problem. Our TV is the same make and model also about 6 yrs. I went to the Mitsubishi website and was able to find a service company in my area. It turned out to be the convergence amplifier. In the end we replaced a pair of convergence amplifiers and he also soldered the pins. (in home) The cost of the repair was $375, much less than purchasing a new TV. I realize I was no help in locating the amplifiers for you but maybe if you call a service company in your area they can help you with their location inside. Hope I was of some help.

Intermittent convergence issue became permanent

Hi Ed,

Your convergence amplifiers are definitely bad. The user manual will not work, since it is the same manual that comes with the set when it was new. The service manual can be found at:

Best Regards,

P.S. Thanks in advance for rating me!
