Why does my plug get extremely warm or hot?

Inside the wire, several strands of wire are broke. Heat is caused by less strands of wire that have to carry more current in amps. This is a safety and fire hazard. Cut the old plug off by cutting the cord about 2 inches away from the plug. Strip the wires carefully. Do not cut or break off any strands of wire. Install a new plug. Make sure you buy a round plug that has a round opening for your round cord. A lot of plugs are for flat type of cords only.

Why does the plug get hot when the heater is on

Sometimes the electric cord isn't made to handle the wattage of your heater....either change the cord or use a heavier extension cord.

My kirby G6 2000 no pwer

More than likely you have a short in your power cord. however if you want to know for sure take machine apart until you can put an elec meter on switch where cord is attached. plug machine in and test the end of cord that is attached to switch if you have 120volts at that point its your switch thats bad. if you have no voltage or anything less than 110volts at the switch replace cord

id check to make sure cord or switch isn't faulty first with an elec meter. if they are both good usually the fuse's are located in the top casing at bottom.

Does not run at all when pluged in and turned on

first i would check to make sure the outlet you are plugged into has power. a simple elec meter that can read 200v or higher should work.
if that is not the problem then its either your vac elec cord or the switch. if it was your motor you'd a probably smelt or heard something before it would not turn on. hope this helps.

Why is it important that the resistance of an extension cord be small when it is used to power an electric heater?

Hi pipay thinti...
You must have little resistance (large wire) in the electrical cord because you want the elements of the heater to heat up and not the cord...if you had high resistance in the cord it would get too hot and melt the plastic coatings.

Dyson 07 plug gets very hot after prolonged vacuuming

Electrical current passes through the electric cord and plug - it will get warm, that's normal. If the problem is worse where you smell an electrical burning smell, only an authorized dealer can fit a new power cord to your vacuum cleaner. Call the Dyson helpline, they will let you know who the closest repair dealer in your area is.

I have a d4c rainbow vacuum, need help replacing the electrical cord

you have to splice them. Use crimp-on wire connectors (best), or threaded twist-on wire connectors. Do NOT just twist wire strands together and tape wires without using wire connectors . . . that is a NO-NO.

Hot cord

likely after all these years that the motor is starting to go bad and draw more amps thasn it should. a new motor at a vac dealer is your best bet. it was likely made by panasonic, so a new panasonic is your best bet, and less $$$than the kenmore for the same vacuum. sears parts are extremely expensive
