Is your pc volume turned up, if so you say you had your pc fixed did they do an upgrade or anything like that if so then they may have altered your sound settings or not even installed the sound drivers.
first check that the sound is on and the speakers are plugged into the correct socketon the pc,
If this is ok then check to make sure your drivers are nstalled and using the sound card you have installed you will have to goto control panel then double click on the sound button check to make sure making sure your speakers are enabled, And check your properties you shouls see your sound card listed in the properties section.
I have an Fujitsu Siemens Amilo D7830. I was updating chipsets to the laptop when it bluescreened. I had to reformat the HDD and reinstalled Windows Xp Pro SP2. Since then I have installed every conceivable Windows Update file there is and have updated all other drivers and chipsets. However, my soundcard is no longer working.
When clicking on the device in question in the device management screen, the following error messages are displayed for the Realtek AC'97 soundcard: This device cannot start. (Code 10), PCI bus 0, device 31, function 5.
I have attempted at downloading and installing almost every drive I can find for this device, and have followed the standard Microsoft help routines. i.e. uninstalling the device and reinstalling the device still with no luck.
I hope you will be able to assist, as my last resort will be to take it into the a techie shop i.e. PC World for them to have a look at it.
If it is a desktop then you need to purchase speakers & if a laptop then 90% there would beinbuilt speakers.
Before anything check if the sound is working on the system
Double Click on the speaker icon on the right bottom of the screen>>make sure in none of the mute boxes should be checked>>Now try to play any audio >> this can be tested by playing a song on the system
click the pearl sign on the left bottom>>click programmes>>Click windows media player>>put a cd and try playing it>>Play a file>>
go to the control panel and repair Windows media player. If its Windows Media Player 11 then it will repair if is not then get it here
Might as well have the latest.
Liamog, i bought the exact same speakers and sound card, and i had the exact same problem as you. I tried for days to fix it and it turns out that its only a setting you have to enable in your sound card settigns. If you go into your EAX console for your creative sound card you will find a thing that sams CMSS 3D, and all you have to do is select the button that says Enable CMSS 3d surround.
I hope this will fix your problem.
