try reverting to vga mode http://www.playtool.com/pages/safemode/safemode.html
tap f8 a couple of times after bios shows, then select vga mode in the list
if that works then you can change to a different resolution in display
From the symptoms, the computer Operating system seems to be corrupted.Try to follow the steps
Try booting to BIOS by punching DELETE / F2 key on startup. Then press F9 key, load the defaults. After that press the F10 key to save them and then start tapping the F8 key to get the repair my computer options.Select safemode .If the computer is booting to safemode, you can try doing a system restore. If the unit is not booting to safemode, then the Operating system has to be reloaded.
It sounds like the Acer logo has been turned off in the bios settings. As soon as you hit the power button, start tapping the F2 key until you see the test appear "entering setup". Once you are in the BIOS, look for the Logo settings as far as being visible during Boot up. I've seen this setting on other systems so I am thinking the Acer should be similiar.
Enter bios setup by pressing F2 key or DEL key. Once you are in bios setup, go to BOOT or STARTUP setup. Look at the list of devices listed from first to last. It might has floppy or hard disk as first boot list. By using + - or pageup/pagedown, move your dvd rom to first place. This means that when you startup your computer, dvd rom should pick up as first boot. Don't forget to put the vista cd in the rom before your computer starts. Just a basic thing to remember, make your dvd rom first priority on boot or startup list. After finishing the loading, make sure to reverse the setting back to normal. Thanks
be sure to remove all other external devices hooked to your pc. just leave ac adapter plugged in. then try if it will boot to safemode by pressing F8 upon seeing the Acer Logo. if it will boot, what you need is reinstall your OS. if it will still not boot then you need to replace hdd.
Try to boot in safemode press f8 key on startup
When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to selectLast Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.
if this does not work you can try MSCONFIG (if boots)to try diagnose your problem
if worse comes to you can do factory reset
at acer bios screen hold the ALT key and press F10 to start acer recovery
hope helps a little let me know if i can help further
Duing the startup, can you hit F8 just after the bios shows. You should see a list. If you choose, last known good configuration, what happens? If it blue screen's again, can you startup in safe mode? This is also a item on the list from F8.
Did you install any drivers recently, in the last day or two?
If so, when you boot into safemode, uninstall that driver and try to boot to windows normally.
Go to eSettings Management, click on Boot Options, and you will be shown Boot Sequence. To boot from a CD, move CD-Rom/DVD Drive to the top of the list.
or
go into bios by hit f2 and enable boot menu so then can just pick f12 and pick the cdrom
