Question about Vacuums
Generic problem for all Vacuums
I have a Hoover WindTunnel
Posted by Smoaky on July 14, 2008
I have a Hoover WindTunnel Farrington Upright Model U6431-900
it has worked flawlessly until last week. The roller brush has stopped turning and I believe it is the belt that has broken but I am not sure how to remove the cover to inspect it and replace the belt if that is the problem. Please inform me how to perform the operation and what I should I look for? Is there a site with a diagram on how to replace said parts? Thanks for any and all helpful info that you can supply me with. Larry
I would advise you to ALWAYS to FIRST UNPLUG YOUR VACUUM before beginning any service procedure. Normally there are either screws, clips or levers that would remove the bottom plate or id that does not work then the top cover will come off and that will expose the belt. Once that is off and the belt is exposed then cut off the old belt and then lift up the brushroll on the pulley end and install the new belt around the pulley end and re-install the brushroll. Then use a belt puller or a screwdriver with a bent right or left end to stretch the belt onto the motor pulley and then track the belt in a straight line and reverse you steps in the reinstall of the top cover or bottom plate. So if you need further assistance, please feel free to contact your local vacuum cleaner dealer in your area or in the yellow pages, or contact the factory phone number or website to further assist you with your questions.
