I have a 2006 PT Cruiser. I need to change th light bulb in my brake light. Can I just change the bulb or do I have to buy a new entire rear light?

The bulb in the rear light has burned out and to replace it follow these instructions: 1) go to your owner's manual to find out the part number. You can find and purchase the replacement bulb at Target, any auto parts store and even at Walmart for under $4.00; 2) pop open the trunk door; 3) get a phillips screw driver and unscrew the 2 screws holding the rear brake light fixture to your car body; 4) as soon as you turn over the fixture you'll see where to pull out the burned out bulb and replace it with the new one(s). Good luck!

Actually, that solution is not entirely true. I have a 2006 PT Cruiser base edition and my driver side brake light blew out. You need a T40 torx screwdriver and look up the bulb. Once you remove the single torx wrench, then slide the whole assembly down. This will release a tab at the top of the brake light assembly. Pull the assembly out (there are clips on the side) and then you can remove the brake light. It twists out of the light assembly. Good luck!

2002 pt cruiser--no brake lights--have tail lights--replaced brake light switch 3 times--brake lights work for about a week--ideas?

I would like to know if you have turn signals working in the rear. These are the same bulbs that brake lights use. If you don't have turn signals, then you need to replace the bulbs. If you do, then there is probably a wiring issue, or a circurt breaker problem. Hope this helps?

How do I re-connect the brake switch to my 2006 PT cruiser? the brake tail light will not turn off.

Under the brake pedal, the brake switch should be adjustable to how far the pedal is from the switch before it engages. It sounds like it is out too far to where the pedal is continuously touching the switch.

Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Brake light fuse popping

have you got a normal bulb (2 pins) in the place of a brakelight bulb (3 pins) that would pop the fuse... Also replace both brake bulbs as one may be shorted internally.

Brake lights do not work when I place my foot on the brake pedal

its either both bulbs are blown which is unlikely for both to blow at once, its most probably going to be the fuse has blown simply replace it

What makes the break lights not work when the break peddle is depressed on my 2006 TP Cruser?

If the fuses and bulbs are ok, check the brake light switch, it's under the dash, near the top of the brake pedal. Press down on brake pedal and see if the button isn't stck in, if it is, tap on it, it should pop out.
The switch could also be bad.

Brake light

Access to the brake light bulb is through the tail light lens. First, remove the tail light lens by removing the single star shaped screw that secures the lens. You do not need a special screwdriver or bit: a regular flathead screwdriver will work fine.
